Here’s my picks :
White lace up shoes;
Love a white shoe (or two)( less limping)(haha) and as soon as I saw these on the runway at Celine, I knew they were so right. Then we saw Charlize rocking the shoes with a skirt : fabulous. The flat white laceups are so chic. And practical ! Wear with pants Jeans or chinos, barrel pants (they show the ankle and so you see THE shoes ) a trench, a crop jacket and a knit . You can try with bare legs and a skirt but it’s a little harder to carry off right ? They are the shoe of the season and next ! Love for summer and winter. I’ve ordered these after I missed out on the Zara ones. These are fab too.

A brown slouchy knit :
It’s the piece that will layer under all your brown coats and jackets. It should be slouchy and in any tone of browns and camels. That’s because it’s good to keep the same tones on top ( think brown + brown, or grey + grey, khaki + green etc) and then mix up the colour and texture of bottoms. Dark denim jeans, blue or white jeans to leather pants. Add white shoes: Sneakers. Flats. Heels. Done .Could not be easier !

Brown leather pants.
The thing with brown leather pants is that they add a bit of texture , a bit edge to any old jacket or knit you find lurking in your wardrobe. This is good. It means suddenly those old pieces don’t look not bad at all ! You might not even notice them (!) because the leather pants are getting all the attention. Plus what I love about leather pants is that they look right ANYWHERE. Pull on sneakers and they look casual, try heels and leather pants = totally chic, with ballet flats and it’s everyday low key cool. Oh and never need ironing , thank you lord.

A peacoat:
What is a peacoat I hear you say. It’s a short double breasted jacket ( not a blazer) that sailors used to wear back in ye olde worlde days. Probably double breasted but doesn’t have to be. When I say short I mean over the bum short or at least longer than the waist ( not cropped !). It’s really when you think about it just a short coat. Which in a way is perfect for Australian winter. Not too heavy. Great for weekends with jeans and loafers but chic with a pencil skirt and boots. Very chic. Very French. Go for black or navy. Love it in brown. Grey is totally chic. Of course. A check trench:
We all need little check something this season. It might be a blazer or a shirt but I am LOVING a check trench. Talk about getting bang for your buck. A check trench is your stand out piece – which is what outerwear piece should be. It’s getting all the attention. Love this one in particular from Zara: the chicest funnel neck and it’s reversible ! Two for the price of one, buy one get one free ! Haha. It’s a great length and I am so tempted because I only have 11 trenchcoats. Need my head read. Please send help. BUY here and here.

A (leather) bomber:
Loving a bomber jacket at the moment . If you’re an avid FiFi Report reader you know I’ve been talking about short jackets for a while now. You should have invested when first instructed. Didn’t do what you were told ? Oops. Please don’t cry : there’s still a couple of seasons left in bomber jackets. Love a bomber in leather but cotton or wool is so right too. Wear with a flirty skirt, a pencil skirt, with baggy jeans , with your fav classic tailored pants. I nabbed this one on sale . BUY here and here

A long coat:
If you’re a bit late to the extra long coat party then don’t worry there is still time to stop being a dag and get yourself looking at least a little cool. Phew. What’s to love about a long coat? It’s an instant wardrobe updater. You toss over anything and everything and you’re done. Easy. It works with sneakers, with loafers, with heels. Work to weekend. For the school run over leggins, with leather pants etc. Quite often I wear a big coat nonchalantly sitting on my shoulders. But in colder climes it might actually keep you warm ! (Whatever will they think of next ? Lols. ). Invest in brown or chic camel. Khaki is good. Black just won’t give you enough vava voom. Not wrong but not the first colour to buy let’s just say. My favourite is this one from Assembly. BUY here, this camel is divine here and I have this in brown and love it in grey here.

Barrel jeans:
I think I must have included barrel leg jeans in almost every FiFi Report in the last year. The thing with jeans is that they probably INSTANTLY update your wardrobe more than anything else. That daggy old short blazer you have? Wear it with barrel jeans and you’ll get another season. That tight knit that looks a little non de la non? Back with barrel jeans and you won’t even notice it. Update one single piece and the rest of your wardrobe gets an injection of cool. Barrel jeans are here for a few more seasons and the shape is almost a given now: I just call them jeans ! Wear with pointy heels, with flats, with loafers. My favs are here. Love these and these.

Accessories :
You should invest in a big scarf like this and this to add colour and to create a cool nonchalant “I just threw this on” fashion edge. Warm too.
A red knit like this can be tossed around your neck as a scarf or wrapped around your waist (a la Chanel ). It’s just the cool new way to insert a little colour, update your styling and joosh up your neutrals. Ridiculously easy. Even you can do this. I know you can. You need brown knee high boots to wear with skirts and under wide leg pants and socks boots like this wear to wear under your barrel jeans. Loafers are really pivotal to your (all year round) wardrobe. I almost prefer them to boots when wearing jeans as they feel new and you can wear with red socks to joosh things up.
