Winter dresses !
I’m talking every day dresses.
Maybe a dress to wear to work.
Maybe to wear for lunch or casual dinner.
(So not cocktail, party, summer or wedding dresses) (*Resort dressing next week !)
Let me say: a simple winter day dress is so damn hard to find !
It’s been driving me nuts.
Here’s what I want:
Long sleeves, maybe big balloon or puff. : I want to cover arms. It’s cold too.
Length: Over the knee, looks modern, want to cover legs.
Fit and flare shape. very flattering.
Not in black preferably. Though will do if it’s the right cut. Can be too dark, too boring and too Greek mama widow. Bless.
But there’s the thing:
SO many dresses out there are too short, too tight, too loose, too pregnant looking !
They might have a scoop neckline ( not fifi approved!) or too much cleavage.
Or they have lots of kooky cutouts ( no thank you) on the back, on the side, on the cellulite.
Some are way too the Little House on the Prairie.
Too cute. Too frilly. Too frou frou. Toooo much fabric.
But everybody keep calm !
I have stalked the fashion world and here is what I have found.
Quite a few black dresses. Denim dresses ( this is great !). Some chic navy. Stripe. Brown. (Love this COS dress). A few sleeveless dresses that are chic ( I have this one). Knit dresses are great too if they flare out over the booty ( too scary otherwise).

Styling tricks:
Any of these dresses look fabulous ( including and especially black) when you have cream or tan or brown knee high boots. That is THE only way to do it. (See here how I wear it)
It’s about knee high boots and a long dress.
(Checkout the street style here on long skirts and boots)( same silhouette)
They can be heeled boots or flat or combat boots. Just knee high.

Please ignore all that dumb styling on some fashion sites : Loafers with these dresses is way too hard to pull off. An ankle boot is to be avoided with a dress at all costs unless they are high up the leg. Mind the gap !
Check out the shot above: it’s from The FiFi Report 2018.  it was a trend I pounced on as soon as appeared. It’s so right, right now!
What about shoes with a long dress?
Oh dear. It’s bare legs or nothing. Do you remember panty hose? Ha. I don’t think so.
NB: I have added some fabulous knee high boots at the bottom to make it easier for you.
And you can read more and SHOP boots here .

How to style these dresses?
Layer over a white tank if the collar is open (it’s a magic light reflector).
Wear an oversized trench or a long coat on your shoulders.
( rule of thumb: you want the coat same length as the dress.)
Please no blazers over a dress (unless it’s oversized)( leave that to the Fashonistas) but a bomber or puffa could be good. They come in at the waist.
It’s easy !
Buy the long sleeve midi dress. Pull on knee high boots.
Toss on coat. There’s nothing easier.
Done !
