Boots ! Boots ! Boots ! Which ones & how to wear them #neednow

The winter shoe dilemma:
Anyone struggling with what shoes to wear ?
Sneakers can sometimes look too casual & jaunty.
Loafers are great but can look too neat and too preppy and straight.
Pointy flats are chic but sometimes they are too ..low !
Mules are great but your footsies can get wet.

I love long knee high boots. in cream/white !

Why?
Because they add INSTANT joosh to everything you wear.
This is not a joke: Watch when you put white boots with your old things and BANG: suddenly cool.
Because these boots are VERSATILE
They work under any wide leg jeans, all wide pants, with pleather shorts, AND back with long skirts.
Sorry to say: Ankle boots just don’t cut it. . WRONG. DATED. DITCH.
Hate the gap of bottom of hem to boot.
You’ve got to wear pantyhose for god’s sake if you wear a skirt. Nope.
Knee high boots – or high ankle boots – solve that problem.
Oh and they look fabulous, chic, sophisticated and they keep you warm!
What’s not love?
White/ cream knee high boots might be too much for ?
Brown/ tan are what you want.
NB: Black is totally fine…. BUT if wearing head to toe neutrals ? Black boots can suddenly look too heavy.
OH and I have been living in white heeled boots for the last three years and I LOVE them.

What about combat boots and how to wear them?
  • Light brown/camel or white combat boots are very tricky to carry off.
  • I suggest dark brown/khaki ones (same colour as my Celine bag)
  • Otherwise it’s best to invest in black combat boots
  • Go as chunky as you think you can.
  • They need to be high up the leg like like these Bottega ( the original !) Because that way your short jeans sit at the top of the boot .
  • Then add something feminine: a long pretty dress or a flirty midi skirt.
  • Or pull on black leather leggings or grey jeans to continue the colour theme from pants to shoes.
  • A big coat and a big sweater will add the necessary volume.
  • They balance out the heaviness of the chunky boots.

Styling tip: You want the hem of your jeans to sit just on the top of the boot.
