It’s chilly. Sometimes wet. Quite often cold.
You need to get your winter weekend wardrobe sorted.
This is about keeping warm. Dry. And most importantly …chic !
No need to look sacrifice style for comfort.
Because this season everything functional and practical is in fashion !

Where to start?
Think versatile expensive colours and update in new shapes.
Think about outerwear . Then your foot wear. Then fill in the gaps !
Big coats. Big boots. Slouchy sweaters. Leggins. Done.

You need to invest in a fabulous coatOr here.
Make it long. Oversized ( go up a size if you need to). Avoid black.
You need outerwear to make a statement. It might be quilted.
It can be shorter like a peacoat here. But it should be in a colour that is versatile like camel or khaki or neutral.

Invest in puffer jacket.
Make it big. Make it taupe or Khaki or cream .
Again outerwear needs to make a statement. You can wear this with heels if you need to ( see here).  It will then joosh up everything else.

I do love a shacket. (It’s a jacket like a shirt).
So handy. So practical. SO easy to throw on when you to look casual and chic.
It needs to be layered it over a poloneck sweater or just over a white tee shirt.
It’s jacket really so it needs to be worn undone. And it needs to be big. And it must be long.
It could be denim or brown or leather. Love this grey one from Arket.

By the way  you should have an anoraks, rain parka but if not this is fabulous from Lululemon. I tried it on in medium and it was fabulous. Detachable hood so it could be very chic.

Now let’s talk boots.
Go for a combat boot but it needs to go high up the leg. That way it can be worn with leggins. Or crop jeans. It looks more fashion. Less building site. Less average. Love a combat boot in black or brown like these from HM.
If you had to buy one pair of boots then make them knee high. And flat. Because they fit under wide leg jeans AND you can wear with a long skirt. Say goodbye to all those short ankle boots. Stat.
I adore gumboots/wellies at the moment but best in a colour like these . I found these fabulous pointy toe and kitten heels at Zara. If it keeps raining like it has been I will be living in both of those boots.

In terms of sneakers you want  neutral with a camel sole  (Not so good in the mud !) More on sneakers here.

Coats, jackets and boots sorted !
Now just slot in your favourite key pieces underneath.
You need slouchy knits ( read more here) and leather pants ( more here) and jeans (More below).
Grab gloves, a beanie and a chic cross body tote in grey or brown and you’re done !

Styling tips:
Keep everything big and fashiony. Otherwise you will look like the Queen in Balmoral. Ha
Stick to chic versatile colours that love each other like the ones below: They all go together, look flattering. Chic. And you’re not in black ( or god forbid bright colours!).
Worried about looking too oversized?
Just balance out the the tight with the loose. SO try leather leggins with a big jumper and coat. Or a neater shacket with baggy pants. Straight jeans are a good investment as they are fashiony but not too overwhelming. Remember the big coats and boots balance each other . You need big shoes to cope with oversized coats.

NB: if you don’t want to go too big and you feel swamped just wear one single piece like a big jacket. It will instantly joosh up all your old pieces.
