Here’s a fabulous idea.
Imagine you can spend what you like on a few investment pieces.
S0 what would you buy?  What’s worth spending money on?
The new season is here ( and some designer sales) and it’s a great time to invest in fabulous luxury pieces  – Click on the links below to shop, get ideas or just drool !

Here’s my advice
1. Invest in statement outerwear.
That would be a major long beige trench,  like this one , dramatic cape, a seriously long and glamorous coat . Because outerwear is what’s seen first, on the outside and you want to make a statement. Get bang for your buck. If you have lots of coats then a black one is great with denim but if you need to buy one single piece?  then you MUST invest in beige, navy, grey or brown or khaki. Anything but black. Save that for inconspicuous basics underneath.

2. Invest a tan blazer or camel peacoat or a chic crop trench….in navy.
Again this is way to get instant joosh when you toss over your every day essentials.

3. Buy a beautiful slouchy luxurious cream or oatmeal knit.
Light colours next to your face take years off. Yes, please ! Rule of thumb: You want lighter colours on the top and dark colours on the bottom.

4. Grab a stripe oversized knit .
Adds joosh, adds print without trying being too pesky.
I am obsessed with stripes tops ( table top dressing) but remember to update into a new shapes like this one at Arket ( I bought small, it’s HUGE)
A tight knit + tight jeans = wrong. uncomfortable. dated.
A slouchy sweater + tight jeans = good.
A slouchy sweater + boyfriend jeans = Yes. please.

5. Invest in beautiful grey or black slouchy pleat front pants.
They are your workhorse. Wear every day. handy dot com.
You also need camel pants classic and beige chinos.   What happens when you add a beige trench and white tee to camel pants ? It’s delicious!

6. Every wardrobe needs baggy black leather trousers, no need to iron !
Add texture and edge to anything you wear. So comfortable. Remember tight + leather can be tacky so make sure your leather pants are roomy (leather leggins need to be with a baggy sweater). Pleather pants are my go to..I have lived in for winter for the last 8 years.  I have pleather jeans, track pants, shorts, culottes, leggins and wide leg flares. In black and brown and khaki. I rest my case.

6. Always invest in the best quality designer handbags.
If you invest in a designer bag it will elevate your entire wardrobe (jeans and T shirt and sneakers suddenly look chic). Actually it will elevate your life too! lols ( My Celine bags definitely do!) . You need a shopping tote that’s great for travel ( remember that?) and a cross body shoulder bag for day. Both should be in tan/brown or grey.

8. A little black cross body bag :
It works day to evening like this YSL that I use daily. Hint: tuck in the strap for evening, like a clutch. Remember you don’t need to match bags and shoes.

Accessories:
You need white loafers , they lighten up your wardrobe, instant joosh and a great casual alternative to sneakers.  When you want more height or sophistication invest in these divine heeled loafers, kitten heels or  white pumps.
I  can’t live without my knee high boots in cream ( I have lived in them for 3 winters) and here ..or go for tan if white is not your thang.
Hint: spend money on a  designer belt : this fabulous Valentino is reversible. Talk about cost per wear, two for the price of one. Sneakers? They are fab but I would not spend my hard earned cash on them.

On a strict budget?
