My wishlist this week : The 10+ key pieces you’ll love!
What will spark joy this week?
World Peace. That would nice, right?
I don’t know about you but it really does feel like one battle after another ( amazing movie too).
The news is grim, the state of the planet is not good. It’s tough times.
But we are blessed to be able to have first world problems like wondering what to wear : it‘s such a luxury to be able to think about fashion and clothes. So lucky to have a choice about what to buy, to have that as a problem !
As the saying goes : two things can be true at once. You can care about the world but also love fashion . It’s about shopping responsibly, thinking before you buy , mileage from your wardrobe, recycle and rewearing your clothes.
So let’s spark some happiness this week ! Because we sure do need some cheering up .
I’ve been watching the fashion weeks (next winter ) from New York, Milan and Paris. Keeping those new trends in mind as I shop so that you can buy early and get years of wear. The ongoing trends into next year : sharp tailoring and big shoulders lace, ( more sheer ) ( I am not wearing it haha but you can) knee length skirts, faux fur, bomber jackets, pencil skirts, black is the new black ( sign of the times) , and MORE brown than you can shake a stick at ! haha.
There’s leather and lots of interesting layering for shirts under knits. Oh and white shoes, knee high boots and lace up flats. There are so many peplums around. And a touch of red/burgundy is the best way to get colour in your life.
Note: There is a slimmer silhouette happening and though big shoulders are huge ( in every way) I see a change in the wind from the oversized to a neater look. This is good. Don’t worry fashion moves SLOWLY and the slouchy /baggy/cool look is still modern and right. But you have to understand that I have been talking about oversized and big coats etc for 12 years ( actually 14 years since this CELINE show changed everything) so yes, it’s time for a change. (That’s why I say fashion moves slowly : oversized hasn’t gone out and come back in again , it’s just evolved.) ( hope that is interesting and helpful for you!).
Now back to shopping : Here are my picks this week>>>>
A PEACE T shirt.
I kid you not : I had no idea when I was writing the intro that the first piece I literally clapped eyes on at Scanlan Theodore was this PEACE T shirt. Love it ! It’s a sign ! It’s a statement Tee ! I’m always after a white tee but one with a little graphic is so damn cool. Love the way they have styled it with choc brown leather trousers ( Been wearing them for years now see here, and here) and buy here! The faux fur stole : A handy little item to wear under your blazers and jacket. Also love this tan bag, a great price if you are not keen to spend thousands (!) on a bag. You will wear this casually but also can tuck it under your arm going out for dinner. It’s a good colour too.

A short sleeve knit.
TOPS ! Everyone always needs good tops. I know because I am always getting your requests for good tops. You’ve got your pants, you’ve got your jeans, chinos and a skirt or two. It’s a top that is the missing link. A short sleeve knit is your answer. It will take you through to next season. It’s a wear now, wear later. What’s to love about a knit top?
It doesn’t need ironing ! It skims over the muffin situation. It covers your muffin arms haha. It always looks chic and perfect for travelling – a blouse can sometimes look jooshy, a white shirt gets crushed and a white tee can be too casual. A knit tee is handy dot com. I’d go for camel, choc brown and of course grey and even black. Love the red layered over a white tee below . Or how Arket have styled it here over a stripe tee or over a shirt. LOVE this one at Country Road (I nabbed a Medium) and this is excellent with a big wide sleeves ( It looks farshun!) of course anything like this with a high neck gets my vote especially in brown : it’s soooo good.

The car coat /Trench.
It’s a trench but a bit shorter; Your current extra long trench is so right and will look cool for a few more years ( don’t fret!) and I have many of those. A shorter single breasted car coat feels new to me. The thing with wearing knee length or something like skinny jeans you have to surround it with other cool updated pieces otherwise you may look like you never stopped wearing it ! Eeeek. Imagine. How embarrassing lols. SO I will wear a carcoat trench with white shoes, with slouchy leather pants and a big knit or even bermuda shorts. See what I mean? Very fashiony pieces. And when in doubt default to all white under everything : assembly label do it so well and this is a great coat.

A crop jacket /trench :
I wrote about investing in a short crop jacket when I first sniffed out this trend 3 years ago…see here ( BTW you could wear every single one of those picks now!) After years of long, oversized blazers ( which are still right ) a short crop jacket feels new. Feels fresh. And of course it’s what you want to wear when it’s inbetween seasons. Not yet time for a heavy coat. The best thing about a shorter jacket: it looks so good with high waist pants, jeans and skirts. Match made in heaven . See here …..There are so many short jacket around this season so here is my pick of the best:
Loving this crop barn jacket at Uniqlo, this bomber is so chic great and this is good too if you don’t want to spend too much $$ (I got a size 12)( kind of like a cardigan but so much chicer!) and this crop belted trench is really good if you want longer. This peacoat is on sale, love the khaki for a change. And adore this vegan leather jacket from Mango. I REALLY want it. Divine. All fabulous.

khaki pants:
Speaking of pants to wear with a short jacket : I am loving khaki pants ! Why? Because they are perfect with all my beige/camel/brown jackets. (It get a bit matchy if I do camel pants with a camel jacket…see where I am going?).
As versatile as black pants but a bit more exciting . Think of Khaki as a neutral, it goes with everything. I’ve been LIVING in these barrel leg for that reason. These khaki ones from Arket are great. Wear right now with a white shoulder pad tee ( or brown < I got medium!) and white strappy sandals . Then later with any camel/brown short jackets. SO right with brown suede sneakers or white pointy pumps ( see my pick below) . These pants from COS look great with a slouchy short sleeve knit. You’ll wear khaki pants from work to weekend and back again. I swear by Arket, such great quality for the price : half my wardrobe is Arket, so thrilled it’s available at theiconic now.

White pointy slingbacks:
All I pretty much wear are white shoes ( I practice what I preach!) so I decided that I needed some quality shoes that can actually take the constant thrashing. I will wear these Aeyde kitten heels every day. Talk abut cost per wear. Love the small walkable heel, the pointy toe and the slingback makes them a little more trans seasonal. They look a bit more summery but still work in winter. These are slightly cream which can be a little chicer than bright white. I have these Aeyde flats ( similar here ) they are SOOO comfortable! And such lovely quality.

Brown suede slingbacks
Speaking of shoes: I did pounce on these brown suede slingbacks at Zara : Totally comfortable and I can interchange them with my white heels. Note: I love these with crop pants or jeans as you can see a bit of ankle which seems to lighten the look of brown shoes. Puuurfect with denim jeans, a white tee and a short crop jacket: I have added all my picks from Zara to my Pinterest page , just click any images to shop FiFi fav finds Pinterest

A brown suede bag.
There are so many brown suede bags around: Have you nabbed one yet? I did a round up of fabulous brown suede bags last year here ( many still available) . BTW A suede bag is so chic in summer too. And will obviously continue into winter. This Witchery one caught my eye because it is so similar to the Phoebe Philo bag : it‘s a very good dupe !
TBH I am quite tempted ! Oh wait, I already have soooo many brown bags lols..
Do you want me to do luxe to less on brown suede bags ? Let me know ! I’ll add a few below I have seen on my travels.

Speaking of Witchery : Love the Witchery X Lara Worthington How good is this collab?! Love it all. This jacket is great and so is the Trouser suit. It’s available on March 10 and I will post my links to these on Tuesday.
Enjoy the weekend !
