Steal my style: A chic tailored check blazer & baggy jeans.
A check blazer !
It’s been lurking on the fashion horizon for a few months now.
Then when I spied Margot Robbie in a YSL check blazer I knew it was the right time to pull out my favourite check blazer. It’s one I nabbed from Zara a few years ago and it’s still so so so right.
What to look for in a check blazer?
You want sharp shoulders or at least wide shoulders and serious tailoring.
It can be a more boxy shape too, and it should be long.
A short check blazer is also chic ( a la Chanel !) so if you see one grab it.
Look for a mix of brown, camel and black ( maybe a bit of blue) in the check with a white back ground. That means it will be totally versatile and go back with most pieces in your wardrobe.
How to wear a check blazer:
1. Toss it over a white Tee with denim jeans.
I have updated to wearing barrel legs but the wide leg jeans ( see below) are also great.
2. Try the check blazer and white tee with black pleather shorts or with black leather pants ( this is from 5 years ago)( invest early get years of wear !) for a more sophisticated look. Just add heels.
3. With double denim
If you want to dress down the sharpness of the blazer then try layering it over double denim – a denim shirt and straight jeans – it’s a cool look ( from about 4 years ag0) and I will definitely be wearing that again. Love it.
5. Over all white
A heck blazer over all white such as a white Tee and white jeans: so chic.
Add white shoes as always and a brown/tan/black bag : done !
