Your work wardrobe starts here!
When I asked you what you wanted to see on The FiFi Report so many of you requested Officewear.
Of course times have changed in the corporate office world since covid.
Your wardrobe is probably more casual. Or you might be working from home.
But you still want to look chic, understated, professional …and best for your age.
Who said you need to spend a fortune to look fabulous?!

THE TRICK?

Invest in expensive (looking) versatile colours like black, camel, navy and cream.
(FYI Hot pink, Purple, bright green never look expensive unless they are.)

Make sure you stick to the FiFi philosophy of table top dressing: make the focus on top of the body.
That’s where people are looking: Your face ( not at your knees believe or not !)
Meaning?
Invest in lots of stand out jackets, major blouses and statement tops.
Keep the bottoms classic and understated. ( they’re hidden under the table)( good for zoom too !)

EVERYBODY STOP LOOKING !

I have done the hard shopping for you.
I’ve been tracked down the best pieces out there.
Whether you’re at the office or work from home your new work wardrobe starts here.
BTW net a porter has a fabulous edit of office wear here

Your checklist:
A blazer :
double breasted and slouchy. Should not be black. Too limiting. (Put it with black pants and it could be a snooze fest suit = boring). Choose camel, grey,  navy or brown. I have absolutely lived in my Arket oversized camel blazer . Now on sale ! Summer and winter. Can’t recommend it enough.

A wide leg pant.
In black, navy, grey and camel pant: High waist , pleat front and slouchy. It’s time to UPDATE those slim, low rise tight pants. They’re so out they will be back in soon. lols. The new shapes means they look good on their own with a shirt or top. Core piece in your wardrobe.

A white shirt:
Should be standout with interesting sleeves, a dramatic shape so it can stand on its own. Goodbye boring tight white non de la non shirt that looks like a bank teller.

A white statement Tee:
Great on its own with big sleeves ( no jacket required!) it can be worn on its own but a neater one is good. Look for a thicker fabric means (so it skims and doesn’t cling)( looks professional) and remember with big puff sleeves you can wear your blazer on your shoulders.

A sleeveless Vest:
Otherwise known as a jacket without sleeves. Great to wear in summer. Great to wear in Autumn. Great to wear in an office! Layer it over a neat knit or a plain shirt. Because sometimes you take off your blazer at your desk but still need something structured and chic . That’s why I love and adore a sleeveless vest. You can move your arms around freely ( goof or  me when I am shopping!)

A waistcoat:
They’re back. As you saw last summer. Wear with nothing underneath. Done up. Camel is chic. Softer than black. Grey is good. When it’s chilly layer over a long sleeve fine knit. Over a white shirt can look too Zorro. haha. But works with a long sleeve tee for sure.

A flirty skirt:
It needs to be midi. Over the knee. Or longer. It might in leather, cotton or wrap cargo style. Most flattering shape? A line. Because it looks good with flats or low heels. A boring pencil skirt? Wrong with flats. Actually probably just wrong.

A simple dress:
Round neck, fit n flare shape. Minimal. Might have sleeves. Or sleeveless. Make sure it’s long : Midi , mid shin. Anything shorter? Nope. Dated. Any colour as long as it’s navy, black or camel.

A blue shirt:
Plain or stripe, it works with camel and white. A blue shirt is always on the FiFi list because blue loves neutrals and denim and lightens up black and adores camel. It’s a little bit of colour that instantly lightens your life. As simple as that.

A Trench:
in Camel or beige. But you knew that. You need to toss it over a dress or a skirt . You are NOT wearing a blazer with a dress. No, no, no ! So wrong. You need a trench or coat that is the same length as your skirt. LONG!

Accessories:
White low heel pumps, ballet flats , Mary Janes shoes ( they’re back!), a designer belt , a big tote in brown, or affordable here or canvas, or a practical brown shoulder bag,,  plus chic pearl earrings a la Celine to lighten the face !

A “make it happen” note “make it happen” note book: we all need that …Love it
