Skirts.
It can be tricky this season to get it right.
Shorts skirt? No, thanks.
Long, straight midi skirts? Very hard to wear with flats. Look weird with heels.
But LOVE an A line midi skirts or satin skirts that are fit and flare.
Flattering. modern. Chic.
That’s because they are easy to style with lots of different shoes.
The styling  ( when you think about it) is always about the shoes – or in this case the boots.
How to wear a A line midi skirt and get it right ?
No gaps.
I’m talking between hem of the skirt and top of boots.
You need a long skirt so it covers ( or just meets) the top of the boots.
Which means ( listen carefully!) you need chunky combat boots that are higher up the leg. Or knee high combat boots ( that are slimmer on the leg so they fit under pants). If you have short combat boots they are tricky to wear with skirts and pants. Avoid them.  And those short ankle boots lurking in your wardrobe with a skirt ? Wrong !  Dated. Au revoir.

Styling tricks
I think the lovely Steps of style ( above) got the memo .
Midi Skirts love and adore big oversized sweaters ( and big big boots!).
You can do a a half tuck at the front or just wear the slouchy sweater hanging down over the skirt.
If you wear a coat make it the same length as the skirt.
If you are wearing a blazer make it the same length as the sweater.
What make this look modern is the colours and textures of the skirt.
The skirt is the single item making the statement in the outfit.
So you can surround it with non descript black ….and it works.
That way you don’t have anything else too fashiony competing with the skirt.
And boots balance out the volume of the knit and top and tail with the black knit.
Add a black bag and voila !
