Alexa Chung is a clothes horse.
No doubt she looks great in anything. Bless.
But she also has style.
A great way of throwing basics together that look new and exciting. And effortless.
She was always a little too boho for me but lately she’s pared down her look.
I like it !
I started this post with one single outfit on ‘how to get the look‘ and then kept finding more and more great Alexa outfits to channel.
What’s to love?
It’s all about simple colours, updated denim, granny shoes and a quirky bag.
The secret styling tricks to these looks below?
EVERYTHING is about the new shape jeans. High waist and cropped. If I have told you once I have told you a thousand times : Get out your scissors and cut off your flares – I have – so they are waaay above your ankle. See more here on The FiFi Report.
Think about new proportions: Toss a long ,manstyle coat over short cropped jeans.
Go for high waisted jeans to tuck in ( the muffin) top.
Think about black patent shoes again. With block heels and round toe. Wear with black socks when it’s cold.
Wear three colours on the body. Alexa got the memo! (Two can be too matchy match and more than three is way too tricky to pull off.)
Wear head to black/navy but with dramatic shapes like a cape and flares.
Add a white shirt/top and undo it for a sexy look under a coat.
When the clothes are simple you can add quirky accessories like a flower brooch, a cute bag or kooky shoes.
Boots under jeans ONLY work when the jeans are cropped and frayed above the ankle. It is a complete no no to wear long jeans touching over your boots. Dot.com. It’s sooo out it’s almost back in. Yikes. Rule of thumb to keep out of dagsville? It’s ankle boots with a block heel with skirts or short, cropped jeans. With wide pants it’s pointy toes – flat or high- or laceup pumps.
And look at that…. no crazy prints and ugly colours! #get shopping.
