My hot picks at Zara: all the pieces you need (just one will instantly joosh your wardrobe !) #FiFiFavFinds

I have to say Zara is looking fabulous at the moment.
Lots of great pieces but it takes time to trawl through it all to go and find what’s worth investing in.

Never Fear FiFi is here !

My philosophy is that it doesn’t matter what the price tag, it is still important to be a conscious consumer and think before you buy. You want mileage from your wardrobe and pieces that go the distance.

Apparently Zara has upped their quality and design to stand apart from all the cheap fast fashion .( I am not naming them here but you know who I am ).  Zara has positioned themselves to be more a sophisticated brand offering ‘affordable luxury’ with better fabrics and designs. Of course they use THE best photographers ( Steven Meisel) and best models with incredible art direction by Fabian Baron. It’s the same people who create Italian Vogue. Yes, that’s why it looks so good. You can read more here .

The good news is that ( it seems to me) a lot of the collections are released in Australia at the same time as Europe
(when the seasons cross over) so we get a lot of their summer pieces right now , some winter all perfect for our spring weather. How good is that !

Here are my picks, a mix of fun pieces that instantly update and some good basics. By the way most of these pieces I have spied with my very own eyes either in store or ordered so I know they are good !

NOTE: this is not a sponsored post ( though for full transparency it’s all affiliate links)( thank you !)  these are just pieces I love and want to share as they are great value for money .

Let me know ( via email or DM on instagram) if you have bought anything and what you think : LOVE to hear from you and the fact that this community is happy to share their Fav finds.

Your shopping list :

The cargo culottes:
I mentioned these last week : Love the cargo culottes for a bit of fun: A shorts / cargo hybrid ! The green is a good olive colour but not a deep green so it might be too green for some but if FiFi can handle it so can you haha. The cut is great, I ordered them. I could get into the size 40 but a little snug so getting the 42 so they sit lower.
How to wear them: With heels, heels and more heels. The casualness of these culottes need to be dressed up. I will wear a plain white tee or with a short bomber jacket. Love how Zara have styled them with the white mules but not sure about the red jacket .

The high collar military jacket:
It’s not a blazer and it’s not a bomber or a trench. I LOVE jackets ( if you haven’t noticed !) and this is the missing one in my wardrobe. I have ordered it ! Loving a collarless /lapel less jacket with a high collar. It’s fitted and pretty tailored which is chic. Love the colour of course. It’s a military jacket without the major buttons so I like the nod to that military trend but it’s not too over the top. ( But if you like that this is great ). I am not keen on those military jackets with gold braiding and massive buttons and all that shit ! Keep away , it’s a flash in the pan trend you don’t need.
How to wear: I will wear this jacket over a white tee, done up is good. With blue jeans or baggy white jeans. With heels. Maybe with (denim) shorts but if so with heels. You coud try it with a pencil skirt but that’s a bit tricky to pull off. Stick to jeans – white or blue denim.

The red pants/ jeans :
The coolest thing to wear right now: Oh and an instant wardrobe updater. If you’re scared of olive green then you will think these are outrageous. Lols. And to be honest when I got them home I did think they looked a more pinky red. Eeek and you know what I think of pink. But I think they are worth keeping. It’s about as much red as I can do ! ( though I did nab red sandals too). The cut is a little low rise which I like (means you can balloon out and tuck in your tee so you cover the situation !) (It works let me tell you ). And the length is a bit short is good for summer. Otherwise grab these barrel jeans in a faded red, they look great too.
How to wear them: With white. With camel. I think black is too hard for me personally. I’ll wear with a white shirt, white tee and thong heels or white pointy flats. Love with camel as you can see. My advice with red? Surround it with white to tone down the bright. You only want one star of the show. And no fighting for attention (No fights please: a white tee is like Switzerland . Your safe haven haha).

The floaty flowing shirt:
OOOH It seems I am loving a hybrid this season. This is a shirt /bomber. How good is that? You wear it like a shirt with nothing under it but it has pockets like a jacket. (How much do we LOVE pockets!). The rich fabric and chic colour = sooo good. Love the collarless neckline, hidden buttons, the poets sleeves and the elasticized ruching/hem. Love the idea that them hem skims over the situation, sits low or high as you like. All that volume hides all your volume ..lols.
How to wear it: With skirts and pants. It will work with both. Obviously with white jeans. But also with black balloon pants and strappy heels heading out for a low key dinner. Wear with capri pants if you like. I’ve ordered it and I will wear with white bermudas and my brown pleather shorts.

The white Tee:
My lifelong purpose, my raison d’être is to find the perfect white tee/top. I spend my life in white tops. SO they always need to be updated into new shapes. Also they get a bit of a thrashing and then look a little worse for wear.
Let’s face it a tight white tee is never a good look. The only people who can carry that off is a mutation of the species ( models!) . But a loose tee with turned back wide sleeves? That skims over the bits ? Yes! Come to mama! Love the cream and white turned up wide sleeves – which also give good arm. I have ordered this in large.
How to wear it: With everything dot com. Jeans, chinos, shorts, skirts. Because white next to your face takes 10 years off. Scientific tests have proved it.

The black dress:
Summer is the best time to wear black. That’s because a flash of skin actually freshens it up. I wear more black in summer than winter. It looks sophisticated and (dare I say that word ha) chic . When I saw this dress I knew it was a winner. Ticks all the FiI approved boxes : fit and flare. Great length. The extended sleeves which is very cool but also gives good arm. The 98% organic cotton makes it look casual . And it has ‘bra safe’ fabric under the arms. So good.
How to wear it: It’s one of those summer dresses you can throw on and literally go anywhere from breakfast, lunch or dinner. Dress it up or down blah blah blah. You get the drift. Good with both heels AND with flats. That’s the beauty of a fit flare dress: it always looks great with flats from sandals and slides. SHOP here

The white shirt:
As we know funnel neck jackets are de rigeur this season and next. I love a high collar shirt as well. The big balloon sleeves take it to the next level. And I like a bit of arm coverage too. It is slightly tapered at the waist so it’s not too voluminous. Plus it’s just the right length to hang out but not too long. You could also tuck in. The buttons on the neck can be worn undone so it looks more low key and less like you are working in a restaurant ( yes Chef!). I have ordered it in large. Also love this peplum white shirt: It’s an elevated lewk , more exciting than ye olde worlde white shirt.
How to wear it: with red jeans of course ! I’ll wear with all my Uniqlo barrel pants and of course with jeans. Love a white shirt with bermuda shorts and strappy heels. It will look great under a blazer too.

The best barrel jeans:
Personally I think Zara do the best jeans. That’s because they can. They spend millions $$ on getting the cut just right. NO pulling out an old pattern from a few years ago and thinking it will be right. The cut is always so spot on whatever size you are. I usually get 42 in the barrel leg so they sit lower but not too low slung.
How to wear them: Do I really need to tell you how to wear jeans? Haha. But in all honesty I do get messages about the length of barrel jeans: They should hit at the ankle or a little higher . Not too long especially in summer.  Short jackets from crop trench coats to bomber jackets ( see below) are a match made in heaven with barrel jeans because they create shape at the waist. As I always say don’t compromise looking modern by trying to look slim. Meaning? Wear a longer jacket with barrel jeans and you will look cool too.
If you need straight jeans then buy these but these are the best barrel so buy these and these .

The bermuda shorts:
Instant wardrobe updaters. Like wearing a skirt but cooler in every sense. I don’t need to go on about bermuda shorts because I already have! Many times.  Just invest in black, brown, camel and white or denim. Whatever you think you will get the most wear. Start with one pair like black and get used to the idea. Haha. Then you will realize how good they are. Zara have a great cut in shorts as they do in jeans because they can. Make sure they are knee length. Can sit on the waist or lower.
How to wear them: if you missed the memo then let me remind you that Bermudas/culottes look best with heels. They are not shorts for the beach , but really just the same as wide leg pants. Look great with a short jacket or a shoulder pad tee, tuck in a white shirt or go just a plain knit.

The brown balloon trousers :
They are calling these balloon pants but I think they just barrel. This is good. Great colour. A bit faded brown cotton. These will be so versatile. As casual as jeans but not boring black pants. You can dress up or down. Wear with knits and loafers or a white tank and sandals. And how good do they look with orange?! Shut up! I think the belted is detachable.
How to wear: default to white or orange ! Try wearing with a brown Tee for a total tonal look. With white shoes of course. As I have been saying a crop jacket will look great with all of these pants. It’s the new updated silhouette. Because as you know (as I have drummed it into you) : update to new modern bold shapes, the only thing classic here is the colours. The way you style things is how you look modern. No frumpy florals here !

Accessories ( actually just shoes!)
I got these brown mules , these white pointy flats and lived in these brown kitten heels. All comfortable and look expensive. These look great if you need white slingbacks ( you do !) and love these white mules if you see them grab them ! These are fabulous but almost sold out. If you need a little colour but not flats these red thongy mules are good. If block heels are what you want then I highly recommend these in brown.
