The pieces to instantly joosh up your wardrobe ( you didn’t know you needed!)

It’s still summer : I’m giving my warm weather wardrobe a thrashing !
But we are heading into a new season.
Time to think about the key pieces you need to add to your current wardrobe.
Look for pieces to add some ooomph.
Pieces that will easily slip into your wardrobe and work with what you have.
Exciting pieces that will add some edge and a fashion tweak.
Pieces that will extend your current wardrobe and add instant joosh.
An oversized camel blazer ? Yes, of course !

Here’s what you need to wear now,  into autumn and right into winter :

A grey shacket:
Love a shacket. It’s a shirt / jacket. You wear it right now over a white tee. Later over a knit. It’s more casual than a blazer but edgier than a cardigan. Looks best with pants and jeans. Grey is the new beige. Invest now. You’ll live in it.

A bomber jacket :
It’s the new shape jacket. Love anything casual but fashiony. An oversized bomber is very farshun but this is one item that doesn’t have to be too big. Neat is fine, especially with wide leg pants. Go for beige/brown/black. The short cut means it looks great with high waist pants, jeans and maxi skirts.

A sleeveless vest:
It’s a knit. Love knits because they skim over the lumps ( I should know!) and look polished. Wear it with nothing underneath right now but later you can layer over a white or blue shirt . A knit loves pants and skirts equally. Good for the office if you go into one !

A waistcoat :
Just handy to have as an add instant update to your jeans and pants. Gives the coverage and structure of a blazer ( covers the ‘situation”) but it’s summery. Wear over white tee. Toss a blazer over it in Autumn.

A tulle skirt :
I have been loving a tulle skirt since Dior showed them with chunky biker boots a couple of years ago. In fact I wore a black tulle skirt , chunky flat boots and a sweater to a party in the country last year. Perfect. Not to be worn with heels, that makes it too pretty. Best with sneakers or knee high flat boots. This skirt is a fabulous piece to have on hand. I’m buying the one from Arket.

A silk bias skirt:
Been around for a while ( the 90’s are back!) and it’s a great piece for summer with a white tee and chunky flats. Then wear with a big chunky knit and biker knee high flat chunky boots in winter.

Cargo pants and Wide leg jeans:
Yes, you know these are both pivotal. Why? Because I’ve been banging on about wide leg / straight leg jeans for about 5 years! But if you are new here ( welcome!) they are the one single thing that will instantly update your wardrobe. Watch as your old jacket and tops suddenly look right.

Accessories:
The new shape bag? A 90’s style shoulder bag. And a hobo bag. Need both in black, grey or tan.
Mary Jane’s : They’re baaack ! Great news. Comfortable and chic. Love a block heel. Bring out your old ones or invest in cream or in tan suede. They look fabulous with jeans AND skirts.
Sneakers: the Adidas samba are the shoe du jour. which makes sense because they black, white and beige. So will fit effortlessly into your FiFi approved wardrobe.
Belts: Have not worn my Gucci belts for years. But they are back. A sure fire way to add a little bit of designer luxe without being too obvious. I like a thin belt. Reversible is good.
