It’s spring : You need an oversized blazer stat ! #luxetoless

It’s the perfect weather for blazers.
Hello oversized slouchy jacket !
Go for camel (this one is my pick), then white and check. Navy is chic too.
It’s one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe see here.

Why ?
A neutral blazer is totally versatile.
It gives you structure and coverage.
Adds polish. Chic.
Looks summery with all the white in your wardrobe.
But it loves black , particularly black pants.
It work over all your other neutrals.
It adores denim jeans and a white tee.

What to look for ?
I have said it once, and I’ll say it again:
Go for a bigger slouchy shape.
Looks casual , effortless, modern.
Looks comfortable. And even better: it IS comfortable.
(Life is so much more casual these days : a tight tailored blazer looks too corporate).
It should be long, definitely over the bum.
Doesn’t matter if it’s double breasted or single breasted it just needs to meet in the middle, cover the ‘situation’ with room to move.
Ignore anything short, tight or with short 3/4 sleeves: doesn’t look generous.
Invest in camel, neutrals, white or check. Love a navy blazer. Grey is good.

BTW If you are buying one single blazer: don’t buy black. Too limiting. too dark. Not versatile. Because when you toss it with black trousers it looks like a suit.
A black blazer only really works with jeans or chinos.

How to wear it?
Stick to white or camel tones under the blazer.
A white tank, a white tee or simple knit.
Black tops looks a bit dated under a blazer. Too dark. Wintery.
(And white next to your face takes 10 years off.)
A cool trend is to wear a bandeau bra under a blazer with high waist pants.
Am I going to be wearing that? Nope !
But you can …I’ll wear it a neat white tank like this
Or a neat tee under there to give some shape.
If you feel like you’re overwhelmed by too much slouch then try a big blazer instead with straight jeans. Then tuck in your tee. Push up the sleeves.
Remember a slouchy blazer loves leather pants, culottes, cargoes, chinos and jeans.
You can also try a blazer and white tee with knee length shorts. Or short shorts if you so desire.
Later when it’s warmer you can toss your oversized blazer over a midi dress.
