Wide leg Jeans: Instant wardrobe updater! Why you want them. How to wear them.

FiFi philosophy numero uno?
Update the basics!
Most women think they have a wardrobe of classics.
That they can wear forever.  Wrong !
Every 5 years or so these pieces need to be updated into new, modern shapes.
A white shirt, a trench, a little black dress, your white tee, and jeans all have a use-by date. Quite often they are actually the pieces that date first.

Today let’s talk about jeans !
Please say hello with wide leg jeans.
Jeans with a high waist. Or straight leg.
Goodbye to low rise skinny jeans.  (Been talking about it for 7 years !)
Here’s the thing:
If you update one single piece – like wide leg jeans- suddenly the rest of your wardrobe looks great. It’s an instant wardrobe updater !
Tuck in your shirts and tops. Just do it please! Add a blazer. Flats.
Then watch your wardrobe magically look modern and chic.

What to look for?
High waist. ESSENTIAL.
A wide leg. If not then go for a straight leg.
A flare is good too. Baggy is great ( so damn comfortable) and so are barrel leg.
Light wash denim looks great and so fresh and chic in summer with white.
But dark denim is perfect when you want to look a bit more polished.

You should invest in a few pairs of different shapes jeans. I have all of those styles.
The Tibi brancusi jeans are fabulous modern shape.
So are these paper bag waist from Zara. I bought them in white and now getting the blue ( wear lower !)
I love these Zara marine jeans ( so flattering)( I got size 42 they are tiny!)
and I love the very 70’s look of flares with front patch pockets and have bought these Rolla’s high waist flares.
These from H&M are the best fit. Ever. High rise flares with stretch. Yes, please.
These baggy jeans at COS are great for comfort ( & slightly mid rise if you can’t do major high rise).
Don’t want anything too fashiony?
These are fabulous jeans from H&M and from Arket.

The question I get asked the most: What shoes?
Wide jeans love sneakers and birkenstocks and chunky flats.
Straight leg look best with a slight heel but a Chanel ballet flat is great too.
Short crop jeans are very happy to be seen with any flats.
And don’t be afraid of wearing pretty kitten heels with slouchy jeans.
BTW Strappy heel sandals look great with everything.
The trick?
Dress up the casual and dress down anything too jooshy.

Styling tips:
Denim loves white, adores camel and wants to kiss beige. Meaning? All those colours are more modern than black ( although that’s not wrong!). Check out the street style pics below for more inspo.
