Waistcoats. Vests. Sleeveless jackets. #neednow

Good news!
There’s a new cool item du jour in town.
A waistcoat.  A sleeveless jacket. A vest.
Call it when you like – it’s a great piece for summer. An instant wardrobe joosher.
And I will be wearing one !

What’s to love?
It’s a new exciting shape so instantly updates your old pieces .
It’s tailored so it gives good shape.
Meaning that it is more flattering than a sloppy white tee.
It skims over the bits. Doesn’t cling. Instantly gives you shape even you don’t have it.
And the tailoring and sharp cut adds polish to any outfit.
So it does the same thing as a jacket – except the bare arms make it much more warm weather appropriate.
Love that !

Which one to choose?
Choose any colour as long as it’s white, beige or black ! Ha.
I love the sleeveless jacket here in beige or this one in in white
But you can also go for a black sleeveless jacket like this.
(Hint: black looks better in summer than winter because the flash of skin lightens it up).
But I am loving the waistcoat style and will definitely wear one like this one here

How to wear it?
With pants. Mostly. With jeans. slouchy chinos. white pants. Black pants. camel pants.
If you do go for a skirt it should be full and long.  (No pencil skirts ).
They should be high waisted so they sit under the bottom of the waistcoat.
No flashing of scary muffin for me. Yikes !
A longer sleeveless vest should probably be so long so it covers the top of thigh.
This is a great alternative to a blazer if you want more coverage.
I’d wear it with slouchy pants ( the tailoring of the vest mean its neat on top).
Don’t want to show your arms?
Please don’t cry.
Just toss on a short sleeve white tee under any of these vests.
( a white shirt under it makes it look like a uniform)( which is fine if you want that look)( you don’t !)
I will probably toss a tight white tank under a waistcoat so I cover the cleavage area.
And you could easily toss a trench over the top if you’re chilly .
