Denim to wear right now #lockdownchic

What will help FiFi Report readers get through this crazy life?
Denim.
(And drugs and alcohol , but I will concentrate on clothing here lols).
Denim is perfect for this kooky covid time in every way.
Trans-seasonal. Ageless. Casual. Cool.
When you don’t want to get too dressed up denim does the trick.
It’s just the thang to wear in this chilly spring weather.
But I am not just talking about jeans.
Denim is also great when it’s a blazer, hat, wide leg pants, jumpsuit or as a dress.

Every body keep calm !
I’ve hunted down all sorts of denim.
In a mix of blue denim, black denim and faded washed denim.
These are all pieces you will easily mix in with your own wardrobe to add a little edge.

The Styling trick?
Denim on denim is cool but don’t forget that blue denim does wonders and will instantly lighten up black .
A denim shirt will add a little edge to anything formal like a blazer or classic pants.
And here’s what I love: blue denim adores white,  camel and tan. Especially white shoes. Duh, Of course !
See how to wear it here and here.

Remember the best way to joosh up your wardrobe?
Update the basics (Yes your jeans!) into new exciting shapes instead of rushing out and buying crazy colours and frumpy florals. They will never inject cool into your life. Soz.
Buy better, fewer pieces.

Your shopping list:

A denim jacket:
Go for the classic denim jacket but if you want instant joosh then grab an oversized 80’s style denim jacket. Looks great over a white Tee and with leather pants (my current uniform). Levis also has this cool denim Ganni blazer here.

A denim shirt:
I will be wearing a denim shirt – love one with big sleeves . You can do the double denim with jeans, or try with chinos. It’s best to tuck it in.  Or try an oversized denim shirt at Thakoon. Love, Love, love his clothes. Great prices, great quality and he has nailed all the elevated basics you need right now. Check out it out here.

A boilersuit:
Got to love a denim boiler suit.  Talk about easy to style! You just zip it up and then pull on shoes. Out the door. Suddenly you’re chic and modern and look kinda cool. Wear with sneakers, sandals and mules.
Check out my FiFi post from last year here. If you bought a denim boiler suit when first instructed here you’d still be wearing it ! Just saying.

A straight denim skirt:
Much prefer a denim skirt without a front split. It’s much chicer. A denim pencil skirt should also go in at the knees ( that weird boxy look is not right). I think the Camilla Marc skirt is perfect, very similar to the fabulous wardrobeNYC skirt last year.  Wear with a white sweater now or later when it’s warm with a white shirt/denim shirt and white mules. Otherwise with sneakers or birks it’s best to wear a flared denim skirt to stop the short leg syndrome. I should know.

wide leg jeans: So you have straight jeans but do you have side pocket wide legs jeans? They are just a little more sophisticated and chicer than your average jeans.  You need them. They’re what you want to wear with a pretty blouse going out for dinner ( we will soon , hang in there!) with strappy sandals or mules. And they look great with flats. They don’t make you look like a clown with big feet like skinny jeans do. BTW these straight leg high waist levis are perfect and these are too. A light wash is nicer for summer.

Denim shorts: Oh la la they scare me. Not really FiFi approved lols. But I do think straight denim shorts at Arket are Ok. Best idea? Just cut off your old jeans to knee length. Done!

Lots more fabulous pieces including the hats, shoes, bags and dresses on the slideshow below.

Have a great weekend!
PS I found a cool denim facemask at Officeworks
