If you follow me on instagram you know I am always wearing my favourite pieces again and again.
After all isn’t that the aim:
To love your clothes, feel great in them and get real mileage from your wardrobe.
The styling secret to a versatile, affordable wardrobe?
Go for classic colours but make sure that the shapes are new ! updated ! modern!
Let me show you three ways with my favourite brown H&M sweater.
Because who said you had to spend a fortune to look chic!
Now steal my steal.

Your shopping list:
A brown poloneck sweater:
Look for a lighter beige as it looks great with white. Go for a slouchier shape that skims over the bits. Shorter is ok as long as you can do a little half tuck.
Black leather pants:
You want slouchy and loose. Tight is not chic. Why? Because tight never looks effortless. Because too tight looks too try hard. If you keep it loose it means there is a nonchalance there. Oh and you don’t want to be uncomfortable. Plus wide leather pants look great with sneakers. I have hunted down more fabulous leather pants right here. You’re welcome !
A big brown coat:
I get asked all the time about my Uniqlo coat. From last season. It was XL. Go for a size up in one like this from Theiconic, (unless the cut is already oversized) it always looks more expensive. Love this one from Zara, it’s a very similar colour . But remember a long trench coat is just as good. They always look great with sneakers.
White jeans:
You want in all different styles although find what suits your shape. I have white jeans in every shapes: wide and long, cropped and wide and straight leg. And did you know white jeans are flattering on any shape and any age. For some reason they can be quite slimming. Yes, please.
Shoes:
Love white mules. They’re easy to put on for one thing. They hide your bad lockdown pedicure. They give you the all important height of a heel but never look like you are trying too hard tottering around in stilettos. Then also invest in super sneakers in multi colours. Simple white Veja are fabulous as well. They look best with a wide leg. Seems to balance the look. With straight /skinny jeans ? Sneakers stand out way too much.
The bag:
If I added a black bag to these outfits it would stand out a mile. Not right. The trick?
If you have a black bag then add black sunglasses to link it in. Invest in a tan/brown beige even if it’s a bumbag and it will really finish the look.
Sunglasses:
You need sunglasses with a brown lens. Links it all in. Lightens the look. And if you are a wearer of navy ( and can’t do brown) tortoiseshell sunglasses will also work wonders.
But wait there’s more !
