This week there are new winter pieces arriving instore at Country Road .
Voila my four fav finds of the week….

The leather skirt:
Anyone who has had a personal shopping session with me knows that I do love a leather skirt. It’s essential to your wardrobe! Why? Because they are so much more exciting and edgy that a plain black boring skirt BUT just as versatile. Instant joosh up of your wardrobe.  Any age can wear a leather skirt. Especially this one because it’s in the new shape with the new longer length. Love the drawstring waist = it’s very inspired by the Tibi  leather skirt last season.  Nothing wrong with that, it’s a great skirt !  Wear with a sweater tucked in or just sitting on the waist. Best with either long boots, sock boots or your favourite white mules. Love with an oversized blazer and a white tee. Buy here.

The velvet short sleeve top:
This is a handy dot com. The thing with black is that you want texture, shine or embellishment. Something interesting happening not plain black. The velvet fabric gives this an extra joosh. And the short sleeves are great because they have a little fashiony puff and you get great coverage of muffin arms as well. It sits quite neatly I’d probably go for a size up. It will sit nicely at the top of the leather skirt. It’s not a top to wear necessarily under a blazer. I’d wear it right now on its own as a statement top. It’s a day look with jeans or out at night your leather pants. Best with a big slouchy coat or trench because the sleeves are bulky. Buy here.

The Faux fur jacket.
It’s a cute jacket if you want to add a little injection of fashion to your basics. Best with high waist pants or denim jeans.  Not keen on the way they have styled it. It would look great with a white tee or white knit. And with the leather skirt. You want to add it to all the creams, taupes and browns. Don’t be wearing it with too much black. As I mentioned last week the faux jacket is so handy when you’re heading out for dinner and you want to toss something over your shoulders that isn’t a big bulky coat or office style blazer.  Buy here.

The pointy shoe:
This is your alternative to a pump when you are wanting to wear a skirt. Here’s my golden rule of what shoes to wear with what this winter. With skirts you want sock boots  or knee high boots or outrageous strappy heels. Don’t wear a simple pump or sling backs with a skirt. Yawn, Bank teller look. Sorry bank tellers but that’s a boring uniform. The classic pump or sling backs work best with pants, jeans, culottes or baggy leather trousers. This one here is not a boring pump but a shootie. Meaning a hybrid shoe bootie. It’s edgy enough to wear with dresses and skirts. Love the brown snakeskin as well. And isn’t that a great heel to wear all day?! Buy here
