The Met Gala: The Ball gown is back.

It’s official : The Ball gown is back.
Why so?
Because Charles James, America’s best-known couturier, will be the focus of the New York’s Costume Institute’s spring exhibition.  The opening night – otherwise known as the Met Ball – is on May 5 and I’m guessing there will be many dramatic and glamorous ball gowns making their way up the Met’s steps.

The show, “Charles James: Beyond Fashion,” will examine James’ entire career, including the years he dressed society doyennes like Millicent Rogers while working with his close friend Cecil Beaton who famously took this totally divine photo above.

The MetMuseum writes ‘His fascination with complex cut and seaming led to the creation of key design elements that he updated throughout his career: wrap-over trousers, figure-eight skirts, body-hugging sheaths, ribbon capes and dresses, spiral-cut garments, and poufs. These, along with his iconic ball gowns from the late 1940s and early 1950s—the “Four-Leaf Clover,” “Butterfly,” “Tree,” “Swan,” and “Diamond”—will be showcased in the exhibition.
The exhibition will also cover his later years at the Chelsea Hotel (he died in 1978) ‘

Aerin Lauder is serving as the evening’s chair. My boyfriend Bradley Cooper plus Oscar de la Renta, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch and Anna Wintour will serve as co-chairs.

Can’t wait to see the red carpet !
