A FiFi philosophy: Update the classics. Quite oft A FiFi philosophy: Update the classics. Quite often the classics that are the first things to date. They never last forever. Sorry to break the news ! Your trench. Blazer. Jeans. White tee. Little black dress and white shirt - all these wardrobe staples need updating. The cut, the arm hole, the length, the lapel, neckline, and the shoulder they ALL change over the years. Suddenly they can look dated. (Yes, even a Chanel jacket & a Burberry trench will date!). That’s why when you put them on you FEEL daggy. You look in the mirror. You know something is wrong but can’t put your finger on it . These are classics right ? They last : So what can it be? You try to joosh up your wardrobe with frumpy florals, pesky prints, kooky colours, silly scarves & beads & belts & silly shit like that - WRONG! Dated, old fashioned, never versatile. Or chic. And you fluff around , wasting time & money every morning trying to work out what to wear. The solution? Build a wardrobe of pieces you love: Update the classics ! Which means investing in wardrobe staples but UPDATED into new, modern shapes in classic versatile colours. Remember the fashion edge can actually come from dramatic shapes NOT crazy colors or frumpy florals 😎. And when you Invest early in the trends ( new shapes!) you get years of wear. That’s the secret to effortless dressing. You’ll buy fewer better things. And get dressed in 5 minutes flat: with your eyes closed ! Because when you update to modern shapes ; there’s no jooshing or fluffing around with accessories, the modern styles do all the talking: put them on , put the door. Done ! You know what’s funny ? I keep forgetting to post You know what’s funny ? I keep forgetting to post on Instagram , here on the grid. Oopsies ! I post stories , I write The FiFi Report , I’m constantly shopping, looking online & a million other things living my life. Then a week goes by and I’ve completely forgotten to post ! I’ve got lots of outfits to share with you so it’s time I got a bit more organized and started posting here on a regular basis. Please forgive me 😜🙏( hope the algorithm does !) . So to start off I thought you’d like to see a few different ways I’ve been wearing my favorite dark denim Neuw barrel jeans. They’re the best cut & frankly just a bit jooshier than blue jeans. You can see they’re so versatile. Did you nab a pair yet?? Now the weather is warmer I’ve pulled out a T Shirt - it’s @lululemonausnz - I’ve added shoulder pads to make it a bit edgier - but the jeans work with all sorts of jackets . From blazers to bombers to leather & my fav trench. Because believe it or not I believe in repeating outfits and rewearing my clothes again & again . So why try on an outfit like that ? When I take clients shopping I insist they put on shoes with every single look … Shoes instantly add a fashion edge , make statement about your style. An easy way to a third colour, give you some height and finish your look. They make or break any outfit . What shoes to buy this season ? Last summer the thong sandal was the shoe I reached for again & again. They’re the perfect mix of casual and chic. You get the glamour of a heel but the thong style gives it a casual vibe. Soooo this season I decided to invest in a quality pair of mules that could take the repeated wear! These are pieces that have incredible cost per wear. I’ve worn on repeat ! You can see the items I tend to throw on again & again. Because they spark joy and I feel good in them.
and they work hard because they’re so versatile.
 The FiFi philosophy? build a wardrobe. Think about what you buy so you get mileage from the pieces you love. Make sure everything works together in a constant colour theme - think browns, khaki, denim and grey with dashes of white & camel. 
I make a point of never recommending anything that is a one season wonder.
The cool weather is still with us and these are pieces (I can promise ) you will wear right into spring. Then pull out next winter. All great investments.

It works under a coat, a blazer or a jacket.
