Maybe you’re freezing outside watching winter sports? Maybe you live in the country ? Perhaps you’re going to NZ or Tasmania ? Or just living your best life in the city in winter like me. I have the best coat for you !

It’s the 3 in one raincoat from @lululemonausnz . Because if you love ‘two for the price of one’, now you have a raincoat you can wear three different ways. It’s so cleverly thought out, the design details are actually superb.
 Wear the waterproof shell and the cozy, insulated vest together or separate. You have a chic raincoat with cool quilted lining that detaches so you can wear on its own: How good is that?!

What’s to love?
* Inner vest attaches to outer jacket with snaps
* Both layers have zippered hand pockets with hidden phone sleeves
* Outer jacket has additional interior pockets to hold the essentials & a back vent for airflow
* Cinchable hood and hem
* Oversized fit is purposefully large with exaggerated proportions.
* Snap the cuffs or cinch the hem on the outer jacket for an adjusted fit.

I am wearing it with the fabulous flare pants in choc brown @lululemonausnz which are ridiculously comfortable, the lovely long sleeve crewneck Tee @lululemonausnz and the @lululemonausnz sneakers. Of course a slouchy knit under there would be totally chic as well .

Note: it’s huge: Not gonna lie. Which is good for layering of course. I am wearing a size 6USA and I could have gone down to a size smaller. But I love oversized and it works for my lewk! Swipe !

This week’s item du jour? White jeans. They’re the best ! Wear them now in autumn, then straight into winter. Pull them out again in summer. They’re the core of every day style.
The foundation of your wardrobe.
 The great thing about white jeans is that they are as casual as blue jeans but just a little more jooshier. When blue denim looks too laid back , white jeans look more dressed up and polished. You need them in your life ! So many women think they can’t wear white jeans. Shut the front door, it’s time to start. They are actually really chic on any size. Wave good bye to white tight skinny jeans ( but you knew that !)( So hard to pull off , they show everything. Even cellulite you didn’t know you had lols.)

Styling tricks:

* White jeans can look too nautical (ships ahoy😂)& too jaunty with stripes. Make sure the sweaters are slouchy and big. Add edgy shoes like chunky boots, pointy heels, ballet flats and loafers so you don’t look too precious. Shoes make the statement.

* In terms of shape: know your strengths and weakness but just keep one thing in mind:

* Loose jeans are much cooler and easier to wear than tight jeans. (Will I ever go back to the those? No way!)

* There is no hard and fast rule on length : love longer jeans ATM but a little shorter and cropped is Ok too.

* It’s the nowheresville, in between length that is the problem: NOT short and NOT long enough either. You want extremes so you look modern. Think super short or really long. Hint: If your jeans are a nowhere length just get the scissors and make them shorter .

* Invest in Napisan and they’ll be all you ever want to wear.

Fun Fact:
there are two kinds of sweaters you need in your life.
One is for layering: you wear it underneath blazers and coats. It’s a chic and neat and perfect for going out to dinner.  You can wear it under a blazer. It’s a layering piece. Not necessarily for show.
The other type of sweater is the slouchy, fashiony knit. This works on its own. It makes a statement all by itself. It doesn’t need a jacket to look polished. It’s loose and oversized: you feel like you can wear it without a coat and look chic.  so let’s talk slouchy statement sweaters ! 
What to look?
It should have a poloneck or roll neck.
Maybe balloon sleeves. Round neck works too. I’d avoid a V neck as what do you wear under it? Big and oversized. It might just cover your bum. Or it can be a little cropped so it meets your high waist jeans but doesn’t show the “situation”. Go for oatmeal, brown, cream, white, navy or grey. Stripe is great . All expensive colours but not necessarily so. 
My advice :
Don’t invest in black: Boring, not so flattering next to the face and tricky to style. (black sweater + black pants = snoozefest). Please don’t cry: Store those black sweaters you already own, or to toss back with all your high waist beige pants and groovy wide leg denim. Or black leather pants.  Just saying if can only buy one sweater don’t spend your money on a black one.

Styling tips;
* Check out the menswear section: quite often better cut, a little slouchier and sturdier fabric.
* Wear your stripe knit as a scarf: work wonders tossed around your neck (see below and here)
* Buy two of the same inexpensive knits from H&M and then wear the second one around your shoulders a ls Celine
* A long slouchy knit looks great hanging long & loose over an A-line midi skirt & boots.

A slouchy sweater & leather pants.
It’s my uniform.
And ain’t nothing wrong with that !
Means you know your own style.

I confess I’ve got a stack of slouchy statement sweaters, some in neutrals but mostly white.
And I swear they’re all different!
Some cashmere, some merino, some big, some long, others neater & shorter.
This oversized knit from @netaporter is one of my favorites.
Talk about slouchy: you could almost wear it as a dress (!) but with a careful nip & tuck (!) you can create shape & it works.

Pleather pants? I have quite a few different styles and I swear they’re all different!
Mostly black and baggy , some in taupe & khaki , some leggins.I love these pleather pants in choc brown (I nabbed in @zara last year ).
High waist with a wider leg they sit at just the right length over the sneakers. Why is that ? Because I scissored them off myself! Give it a go it’s easy …

Styling tricks:
Stick to simple classics updated into modern shapes.
Don’t be afraid of mixing textures like cashmere and pleather.
Use a designer bag to add any print you need to instantly elevate the look
Shoes are everything ! Sneakers in choc brown add a casual sporty edge to the look ..but swap the shoes to , say kitten heels & it will Instantly change the whole occasion.

I’ve found the best layering knits !
Think of them as your white tee …for winter.
Neat yet not too tight. Roomy yet not too oversized they can easily layer under all your jackets & coats. Then take off your jacket ? They look great on their own.
Toss with everything from jeans, to pencil skirts, leather pants and slouchy pants.
I’m obsessed ! I couldn’t decide which one so I got both.
Thx to @theiconicau I’ll live in them all winter.

What to look for when buying a layering knit?
* Obviously make sure it’s not too oversized and bulky. It needs to sit comfortably under a coat or jacket.

* I like a round neckline ( it’s neat under a jacket), a V neck is a bit bare, but a polo neck is good too.

* You want sleeves that are roomy so the knit looks modern and relaxed. So when you take off your jacket at dinner you look chic.

* Colours? Lighter tones like this oatmeal neutral always look great under any jacket ( FiFi motto? default to white or light under everything). Flattering against the face these neutrals are totally versatile & work with everything from choc brown to beige and black (that’s my total wardrobe 😂).

* A little shorter is good. No need to tuck in which means less bulk. And it looks relaxed ( you know how sometimes a half tuck can look too contrived) but it’s long enough to meet high waist pants ( and no flashing of your situation! Eeek).

Both knits are in lovely soft cashmere blend : the first one from @minima_esenciales minima is a little more structured so it hangs really well. The second one @aerelabel is a little slouchier, more relaxed but you can see it’s perfect under the fabulous @aerelabel camel peacoat or just by itself. Love !

Choose new season pieces that slide easily into your current wardrobe to get maximum cost per wear!

So I’ve taken the @lululemonausnz choc brown cargo pants and the expresso flare leggins from my previous post and styled them this time with some of my favorite pieces. Yes, pieces that I already own and which I wear on repeat.

Take one guess what that might be…😂
An oversized camel blazer @thefrankieshop
And a crop trench @acnestudios … of course !
Toss on white shoes and it’s a done deal.

Styling tips:
* Think tonal dressing rather exactly matching colours.
* So browns & caramels with white are all living their best life when they’re together.
* Roll up the hem of the cargo pants so it’s a bit more sporty luxe .
* Shoes changeth the outfit. the white Net mesh flats @jomercershoes work with the crop pants because you see a bit of ankle. There’s skin/space to create drama.
* The white loafers love going out with a crop trench.
* Why not wear flare leggings with an oversized blazer & pointy heels ?
* It’s the way to do it if you’re hesitant of wearing baggy & oversized. By the way it’s same camel blazer with both pants.
* a white round neck tee is pivotal in your wardrobe. It lightens up the look, work back with the shoes. Adds a third colour.
* Choose accessories like bags, belts & sunglasses in the same tones & colours. Looks chic and makes dressing so easy. What’s not to love about that ?!

Because you can work out the gaps, think about what you need & buy accordingly.

I knew when I spied so many fabulous new pieces arriving in store @lululemonausnz I had to think long and hard and plan my purchases.

So obviously it’s no surprise I’ve chosen my favorite colour: brown and why not ?
It’s chic but it also makes sense. Because I’m conscious about building a wardrobe and these choc brown pieces seamlessly slot straight in with the rest of my current closet.

My picks ?
The fabulous crop wunder puff jacket with the brown flare ( expresso!) pants . And the choc brown cargo pants. I’m obsessed! Swipe 👉

What’s to love? (apart the colours).
The wunder puff might be short but it meets all your high waist pants at the waist so it sneakily creates shape. ( some puffas can completely overwhelm you !) With a detachable hood ( yes please), cinchable hem & nifty pockets you’ll also be warm as toast.

And can we talk about the groove flared pants ? ( that’s their name: and you will be 😜) Best colour AND the best cut. High waist and then flare OUT.

Peacoat alert !
It’s the item du jour this winter. And into next.
A big trend on all the autumn/winter runways (& on street style crowd ) at fashion month.
Meaning ?
It’s the beginning of the trend & it’s time to invest early. You’ll get seasons of wear.

Do you know what we call a peacoat ?
It’s typically a double breasted wool jacket.
(you can see the shape has a kind of nautical feel as it originally was a piece of clothing that sailors wore !)
It is quite often in navy ( no surprises there) but I love it in black. Grey is chic. So is khaki & chic brown of course. It can be short & cropped. Or long over the bum. It really should be in wool.
It should have plain buttons. And big lapels.
And this season it’s updated into an oversized cut with serious shoulders. A tailored version is also totally chic but make sure it’s not too neat.

This fabulous peacoat here ?
I nabbed it from @arketofficial last year but good news ! It’s now on sale. Woo hoo. I’ll link in stories!
FYI I got size 38 and it’s big. (Could almost have bought a 36)

How to wear a peacoat?
With wide leg jeans, white pointy heels and a tan bag of course! I’ve layered it over a white tee but come chilly weather it will look great over a knit with leather pants and sneakers.

And herein lies the reason we love a peacoat : it works from day to evening, work to weekend , desk to dinner and back again.
It’s chic wherever you go:
Toss it over pretty lace & kitten heels going out for dinner but it’s also perfect with chunky boots stomping around in the countryside. And if you google ‘French fashion editor’ you can bet they’ll be wearing a peacoat with jeans & ballet flats.
I rest my case !

Jetting off on a European summer holiday?
You need to plan your travel wardrobe.
The trick ?
Colours that go together = versatile.
Colours that love each ( not like your family after 24 hours flight haha).
Colors that looks expensive but don’t have to be.
That means what I call “expensive” colors like Black, white, neutrals, brown, grey and metallics. A soupçon of blue and lots of denim.

The aim: A chic, effortless versatile wardrobe with multiple different outfits.
Don’t worry it’s easy.
There will be no breathing into a paper bag in the Hotel George V as everyone waits for you to get dressed.
Why?
Because you will take photos before you leave of all your outfits so you can cleverly refer to your secret look book on your phone before you head out .
That means you can nonchalantly throw on your outfit in 5 minutes flat.
And everyone is happy.

My best advice: only pack things you LOVE wearing. Never pack pieces you think you might wear.
Because you won’t.

I hope so !
You’re probably sick of your summer wardrobe like me.
I’m loving getting back into my favorite winter pieces.

This is what I have lived in over the last few winters & will pull and wear again this season :

A camel cape or coat ✔️
Go for oversized, slouchy & long as you can.
Fashion tip: keep the outerwear in a lighter colour for maximum impact . I’m wearing @toteme

Pleather pants ✔️
Go for a baggy cut. In black, brown & khaki.
Fashion tip: black needs texture, shine, embellishment or in a major fashion shape to make it interesting. That’s why black slouchy pleather pants work !
I’m wearing @sabastyle

A cream knit✔️
Make sure it’s slouchy. Though not too long so you can tuck it in. A roll neck or crew neck are both right .
Fashion tip: keep the lighter colours on top because white next to your face is good & can take years off ( I should know !) I’m wearing @rohestudios

Cream white flats ✔️
White /cream shoes (it’s just about all I wear).
Flats look modern. Take your pick of pointy, round or square toe. Mary Janes are everywhere this season but plain ballet flats or flat slingbacks are great as well.
Fashion tip: white shoes lighten the look. Add a fashion edge. A third colour to break up the black & white.

FiFi Philosophies:
* Think 3 colours on the body. Such as camel, black & cream. Why ? Two is too matchy match and more than three? Takes too long, is tricky to pull off . Who has the time to style all that up in the morning?
* Think table top dressing . Keep the focus on top of the body above the table where everyone is looking (white knit) and then plain pieces under the table ( black pants)
* Always update the classics : they are sometimes the first things to date. Right now it’s all about a slouchy look. Makes dressing easy & effortless.
