The FiFi approved simple way to look effortless and chic ?
update ! Update ! update !
Update the key classic pieces into new, modern shapes.
It’s the way to inject new life into your wardrobe.
You don’t need kooky colours, pesky prints or frumpy florals to look farshun.
Instead stick to versatile classic colours updated into cool new shapes.
The power is in the new ways of styling, new proportions, new silhouettes.
( that’s if you want to look modern and chic ) ( Psssst: You do!) .

The good news is that you don’t need a whole new wardrobe every season .
Just invest in a few NEW shape pieces that will instantly joosh up your wardrobe. And your life !

These are the new shape pieces you need now.

What: Balloon pants
New shape pants. Perfect for summer. Fun. Cool. A way to wear black pants and still look modern.
Where plain black tailored pants can look a bit ho hum, balloon pants have a fashion edge. They will instantly update all your tops. You could also go for balloon pants in khaki, brown, choc or grey. ( I might do red jeans but red or balloon pants is too many trends at once!).
How to wear them : With heels. With strappy sandals. Keep the top a little neat as all the action is happening in the pants and you don’t want too much going on. Try with a plain slouchy tee or with a baby Tee. Or go for flat thin strap ( not too chunky) sandals and a simple cotton knit.
Checkout my post of  these balloon pants from last season and all the ways to wear them.
Buy here and here and here …love these …And I’ve nabbed these from lululemon

What : A round neck blazer
The new shape blazer. It’s collarless, round neck. Might be V neck. It might be sharply tailored. It might be shorter. You wear it done up. I’d go for black or brown. Khaki is good. White can be tricky.
How wear it : Layer it over a white tee or tank. Or nothing at all. ( but do it up haha) With baggy jeans or slouchy pants. You want low key fashiony bottoms to dress down the conservative style blazer.

(Crop )cargo pants
They’re back. What I love about cargo pants is that they are as casual as jeans but just as versatile . Instant wardrobe updaters. They are so cool and inject cool into any of your old pieces. Go for khaki, or black, white is good too.
How to wear them : Personally I love a kitten heel or thong heels with any casual pants because they elevate the basics. You want to joosh up the casual pants but keep a relaxed vibe. Try cargo pants with a blazer, or a bomber jacket . With a simple white tee or slouchy knit. For super casual try with birks and a knit.
I bought these here ( I’ll let you know how I go) and here.

A knee length skirt:
It might not seem a bit deal but to fashion people a knee length skirt is a BIG change, After all we have been wearing midi skirts now for 10 years . A  knee length skirt as I mentioned last week looks new.  It might have a lace trim , it might be A line 0r straight pencil . I’d go for black, khaki or neutrals. Duh of course.
How to wear it : It needs heels. Any pencil skirts is so hard to wear to wear with flat. Just a little block or kitten heel would work. Then go crazy with a big blazer or crop jacket/bomber on top. The narrow skirt can take it. In summer I’ll wear with a white / brown shoulder pad tee or with a short button down shirt.

A shorter blue shirt
Love a blue shirt. it’s so fresh with white and camel. Looks great with denim. Chic under a brown blazer. Time to update to a shorter one. It will sit over the top of your pants and jeans without tucking in or bulk.  It might be collarless or with tie front or simple button up. Or just cut off your own long blue shirt you don’t wear any more !
How to wear it: hanging out with camel chinos or jeans. Undone open over a white tank with balloon pants. With barrel jeans under a camel crop trench.

A  crop blazer
The new shape blazer is short and cropped. Still with big shoulders. Still loose. First seen at Chanel last year. Go for grey, tweed, check or plain black or neutrals. Single breasted is probably better. Don’t worry a long blazer is still so right and I will be wearing mine but the shorter blazer is a new updated version.
How to wear it: as you would with any blazer really ! Over a white tee or plain knit. I suppose the main thing here is that it looks best if it’s with high waisted pants and skirts. Meeting in the middle is always good.

A new trench : a Car coat
It’s not The FiFi Report unless a trench is included somewhere ! Obsessed. I have mentioned a car coat a few times here. It’s a new shape trench and I am here for it. It’s probably a big shorter than the oversized trench ( still right !) and it’s usually single breasted. I nabbed this fabulous one at Zara : it’s reversible and I love the check.  this is great too.
How to wear it: I looks good with a knee length skirt . It looks good with a white jeans , blue jeans and tossed over head to toe camel. Add a touch of blue short or a red sandal. Done.

Bermuda shorts
Shorts are a key piece for summer. And you know that because I have been talking about shorts for a few seasons now and you should have got the memo. They are everywhere and I will do a special post on the best shorts soon. I’ve included here as Bermudas are really a new shape piece. You want baggy and knee length. Plain or cargo with pockets. All the usual colours but black is good to wear on the bottom. Denim is chic and so is white, brown and camel.
You could also try long culottes.A hybrid of a crop pants and shorts. Like a skort!
How to wear them: With heels IMO. You to elevate the casualness of the shorts. These are not beach shorts. They are a good alternative to a skirt. I like with flats like laofers or ballet flats but personally I like a bit of height. And in terms of jackets ( as mentioned above) I love the idea of a crop blazer with shorts or a bomber jacket. A matching waistcoat as a set is good too. In high summer a halter top or simple tee or tank will look great.
