This week’s item du jour?
White jeans.
They’re the best !
Wear them now in autumn, then straight into winter. Then pull them out again in summer.
They’re the core of every day style. The foundation of your wardrobe.
The great thing about white jeans is that they are as casual as blue jeans but just a little more jooshier. When blue denim looks too laid back , white jeans look more dressed up and polished.
You need them in your life !
So many women think they can’t wear white jeans.
Shut the front door, it’s time to start.
They are actually really flattering on any size.
Wave good bye to white tight skinny jeans ( but you knew that !)
( So hard to pull off , they show everything. Even cellulite you didn’t know you had lols.)
The good news:
There are new white jeans right now that look cool and are actually …comfortable.

You’ve got a few different styles to choose from ( all with a mid to high waist).
Note: the names of the shapes are so confusing. Last year straight jeans were wide leg, low rise looked high rise 5 years ago and now this season super wide look almost normal.

Baggy jeans:
They’re loose and baggy. So you don’t look it. The slouchier the style, the more relaxed you look in your skin. These jeans can be high waist , low crutch and just generally look roomy. Like these. So damn comfortable. Wear with a neater top or a sharp blazer if you don’t want to be totally oversized. Love with heels or flats.

Barrel leg jeans
Wider in the leg than straight. The ankle is slightly narrow. They are shaped like a barrel so you won’t ! Good for peeps with thighs and baggy knees. Such as my good self. A bit more fashiony in style here and like these .

Straight leg jean
These are high waist and straight like here and here  ..very wearable. They are the new classic jeans. Your every day jeans. Good if you are scared of getting into very wide jeans. Or just a nice change. (Remember these straight jeans were considered wide when compared to skinny jeans. Your eye gets attuned to the new shapes). Here at Unilqo

Wide leg
These are what I have been living in for a few seasons. Modern. Chic. Sophisticated. Might be flares or slouchy wide leg. Look great with flats. Love these ( I bought them !) and these and these from Zara.  You want them long like this. But I don’t mind a crop either. These are great at Country Road, they are fabulous on all shapes and sizes ( not joking!) (get in white if you have already in blue denim) A crop is good if you’re height challenged.  There’s also a side pocket. I wear these for going out for dinner. A bit dressier . Look chic with flats, lace up brogues or sneakers.

NB: I think white chinos can also be included here though not necessarily jeans.

In terms of shape: know your strengths and weakness but just keep one thing in mind. Loose jeans are much cooler and and easier to wear than tight jeans. (Will I ever go back to the those? No way!). Don’t compromise looking modern by trying to look slim. You’ll end up looking neither.

Hint: Invest in Napisan and they’ll be all you ever want to wear.

How to wear white jeans:

  • With all white : a white tee, a white shirt or a slouchy sweater.
  • White jeans love and adore camel knits and grey cashmere sweaters. Summer and winter. Get mileage from your wardrobe: Buy now and you can wear white jeans whatever the season.
  • White jeans can look too nautical ships ahoy haha..Sometimes too jaunty with stripe tops and stripe sweaters. You will put them on and feel too ..prim ! Make sure the sweaters are slouchy and big.  Fashiony. Then add edgy shoes like chunky boots, pointy heels, ballet flats and loafers so you don’t look too precious. Use the shoes to make the statement.
  • Nothing like white jeans and a beige trench just add a white / neutral under there.
  • Ditto with camel blazer ( stick to all white) and then add a tan/choc brown bag to stop it looking too matchy match.
  • There is no hard and fast rule on length : Though I do love longer jeans at the moment. A little shorter and cropped is Ok with loafers so you can see the ankle.
  • If you go longer then they should be really long and over the shoe. Almost touching the ground.
  • It’s the now wheresville in between length that is the problem: NOT short and NOT long enough either. You want extremes so you look modern. Think super short or really long. Hint: If your jeans are a nowhere length just get the scissors and make them shorter !
