White chunky sandals: Why you need them ( & can’t live without them!)

What: white (or tan) chunky sandals.

Which: you probably have enough chunky dads in your life (haha) but do you have any white chunky dad sandals? They should be flat. (that’s fat with an L.) They should be white, cream or taupe. Black is fine too if you need them. I would advise to get a white sole.  Or a tan sole. A black sole can be too limiting and means the black stands out a mile if you are wearing all neutrals. It looks wrong.  (But works of course if you have some black in your outfit to link it back).
Hint: I think slides are great but very casual. A bit weekend. That’s why I bought the Chanel by Tony Bianco because they have a back strap. They look chicer than a slide or birkenstock when I am wanting to look put together and polished.

Why: Because white or tan sandals lighten up your wardrobe. This is good. Looks modern. Because white chunky dad sandals make all your boring straight pieces suddenly look cool. That pretty dress that might be a bit last season in length? Add chunky white dad sandals. That stripe tee and jeans that look too chi chic/ average/non de la non with a boring dainty sandal? Add a white chunky sandal and voila ! Instant groove. Maybe you’ve got a long skirt and a slouchy top? You need a heavier sandal to balance out the volume.
Because they are comfortable. Because you can walk and walk. And look chic doing it.

Wear : With your entire wardrobe. Ha. The thing is , right now in this casual new world they look cool. Chunky sandals love wide leg jeans ( cropped or long), adore slouchy pants and are very happy to see be seen with fit and flare long midi dresses and skirts.
These sandals are your instant wardrobe updaterer. That cardigan that you are going to buy to wear undone over a white tank? You will look too prim librarian with a pretty shoe. You need the chunky modern shoes to take it to another level. ( if you want to look prim you are probably reading the wrong blog!).
The thing is: when your wardrobe is looking daggy and dated please don’t rush out and buy beads and scarves and jewellery or kooky colours. That will only make it worse. Invest in white chunky sandals.
Hint: white sandals look so much better on the foot than alone on the shelf so try them on : you’ll be surprised !
NB: Who cares if your white chunky dad thinks his namesake are a bit masculine ! You’re more attractive when you feel groovy. Scientific tests have proved it.
