This little number : It’s @lululemonausnz.
It’s like the sister skirt to daydrift pants .
Which we all loved right?!

What’s to love :
* The pockets : if god was a woman there’d be pockets in everything!
* The cut ; it’s slightly Aline so it’s not straight up and down.
* The wrap: makes it more casual. It sits neatly across so when you walk you don’t flash anything. They call it a ‘faux wrap’ as it’s stitched in place.
* The length: it’s very long , chic length.
* The colour: it’s FiFi approved . The beige will work with a black tank or a white tee swipe 👉👉👉
* The details: it has a little drawstring waist if you need to cinch it in. And it’s machine washable. Thank you 🙏

The crew neck white tee :
tuck it in & roll up the sleeves for a bit of joosh.
The sweatshirt : it’s really just a long sleeve tee for autumn . How good is that ? I’m wearing it with brown barrel jeans but also with the brown satin leggings. In winter I’ll just toss a big brown coat over the top and pull on white loafers.

I’m wearing size large in the skirt & could easily fit into a medium. In the white tee I’m wearing a size 12 and the sweat shirt a size 10.

Loving a sleeveless vest at the moment.
(Actually I think it should be called a sleeveless jacket 😜?!)

It’s one of the pieces that works so well going into this autumn weather : it’s really a blazer without sleeves !

What to love?
You get the structure ( hello shoulder pads !) and tailoring (longer length!) of a blazer but the cool & ease of a sleeveless top. You feel polished and pulled together but you’re not dying of heat exhaustion! This is good right ?!

It’s chic and casual at the same time.
Perfect to wear with white barrel jeans ( or any jeans !).
I’ve also worn the vest layered over a white tank with grey slouchy pants , black pleather shorts and baggy camel pants. Swipe 👉👉👉

Styling tips:
* Stick to classics colours but make it modern by choosing updated pieces in new shapes like a vest, barrel jeans , round toe mules.
* white shoes are good here as they continue the colour of the jeans & lighten the lewk.
* Turn up the cuffs of the jeans so you flash a bit of ankle - seems to work with the mules.
* A black bag works back with the black vest and you can change your shoes from white to black.
* The grey /camel pants add a third colour
* Can’t wait to wear this vest into winter with a full midi skirt ( over a sweater) as I see on the runways of Milan & New York (last week!) that a long blazer over a floaty skirt is one of the silhouettes of the season.

It’s that time of year. You’re not quite out of summer clothes yet not into cold weather dressing. It’s that inbetween time when you are hankering for something new & exciting ( right ?!!) but not yet wearing seriously winter pieces.

So it’s time for FiFi’s annual guide to denim and camel !
It’s a post I like to do around this time every year ( if you haven’t noticed!) And why not? A wardrobe of denim, navy and lots of camel and choc brown is what is so chic, so right & so right now.
 It’s what I personally want to wear : in fact it’s actually what I DO wear . Trans seasonal. Lowkey. Chic. totally versatile. 
The trick ?
As always is about updating the classics into modern shapes and trying new ways of styling.

You might have a lot of these pieces so just invest in a pair of new shape jeans /baggy pants. one single item will update all your other pieces .

Invest in camel or choc brown accessories, pull on denim , a neutral knit and maybe some navy and a stripe.

Make sure you have three colours on the body (makes life so easy) two is too matchy match and more than three? Way too hard to pull off (who has the time?!).

Choose a mix of trans-seasonal pieces you can wear now and then right into winter.

Of course you can !

I snapped up this fabulous suede bag @arketofficial about a year ago when I first sniffed out the trend of chocolate brown suede. …good news : it’s now back in stock !

I needed a bag to take on my trip to Paris & Provence last May & as soon as I saw this one I knew it was perfect for my trip. And it was !
I also knew I needed a bag to wear all winter , into this summer and now of course this coming season .

What’s to love ?
The colour of course : the chicest chocolate brown. It works with everything in my wardrobe… summer to winter 👉Swipe

The shape: casual yet chic great for every day.
Slouchy shapes are so versatile because they look casual but the suede makes it sophisticated.

The size : you can fit ALOT in there so it’s great for travel but also not too big for going out for dinner. The less you put in , the smaller it looks !

The strap : you can wear it across body as well as hanging from your shoulder. How much do we love hands free ?? Also wear it tucked under your arm.

The zip: it’s imperative for travel right ? You need a bag that zips up for security.

I love this bag so much I got it in black too!

Tip: I sprayed it with waterproofing and brush every now and then to give it a joosh.

Shorts ! Just as easy as pants , as cool as a ski

Shorts !
Just as easy as pants , as cool as a skirt.
When you don’t want to wear jeans.
But you want to look chic & relaxed.
The secret : Heels !
It’s about wearing shorts in a more sophisticated way. Because these are not beach shorts.

Then toss on an oversized white slouchy tee with your baggy shorts and a choc brown suede bag.
Styling tip: You can do a little half tuck . Or let it hang out.
The thing I’m NOT worried about ?
Wearing two slouchy pieces together .

My philosophy: don’t compromise looking modern by trying to look slim.
Because you’ll end up looking neither.
Looking slim is not the end game: looking modern & chic is what I’m after. Right ?!
Own the look, wear the damn fashion !

Who cares if it’s “ flattering “ or not.
Because - when you think about it - the word
“flattering” actually is just another word for looking slim right ?! That to me is not the aim .
Who cares what size you look.

Which is why I never write about those silly figure fixing tips on how to dress for your shape. And all that ridiculous stuff about the “right” proportions. What looks cool now in fashion is not necessarily what is flattering or slimming.
Fashion changes !
That’s why we love it. Those rules are never set in stone.
What your eye thinks looks cool right now will be different in 5 years. Own it and wear the fashion.

Wear what you feel good in !
Which for me is something modern, cool & chic. Like shorts & a slouchy tee.

Beige pants ! Slouchy, baggy, beige pants. They are the KEY piece in your every day wardrobe. These slouchy beige pants @lululemonausnz are fabulous.
Why ?
Because they’re instant wardrobe updaters. They work wonders. Chicer than jeans but just as casual. As handy as black pants but just as versatile. You need them in your life! They immediately lighten up all the dark jackets you own, add instant kick to whites and neutrals. (I wear some style of beige /camel pants just about every single day).(they are all different) ( not joking!)

What’s to love about these slouchy pants @lululemonausnz  Let me count the ways ! * They have a sneaky elastic waist.
Hello! The comfort factor just went right up a notch. You just pull them on and off, style them lower or higher on the waist however you feel. * They’re in a breathable , stretchy fabric * There is a clever interior hidden drawstring waist .
* oh and pockets ! * A flat front so you have one too ( pleats can be hard to wear sometimes ) * The length is generous, super long and supposed to puddle. (although I might just get them taken up a little to wear with flats). *!Machine washable .(I think they’re my new travel pants, don’t really crush, beyond comfortable, you won’t want to take them off.)

How to wear them : In summer slouchy camel pants are so easy with this simple @lululemonausnz white tank and heels 👉👉👉swipe
Add a tan suede designer belt and a chic neutral shoe: done. 
In chillier weather : these beige slouchy pants instantly joosh up a short black bomber jacket over a white tee. And of course they are a match made in heaven with my white @lululemonausnz trench.( they have the best trenchcoats!) 
BTW the colour of the pants is called sheer oak (it’s tricky to get the colour right on my phone - much better IRL.).

Don’t get me wrong I still love & adore long jackets & coats.

But I am FEELING that the shorter jacket is right.
And it’s all I seem to be wearing to be honest.
I just know that this shape is coming, that it’s on the fashion horizon. That can only mean one thing : Invest now !

When FiFi sniffs out a trend you best get cracking .
We will see it on the runways for winter at Fashion month ( happening now!) and you know the FiFi philosophy : invest early in a trend & get years of wear!

Which one ?
I am talking about a utility jacket, a short denim jacket, a short trench, a crop leather peacoat or a bomber. It might even be a short blazer.
It should sit ( more or less) on the waist.
It should be in all the FiFi approved colours; Camel, cream, chocolate, brown or khaki.
Black is ok. Maybe white. Always beige.

It might have pockets, epaulettes, or a cinched in waist.
It might be more a shacket than a barn jacket. Look for cotton, for wool twill, for denim. Maybe leather. Chanel style tweed ? Yes. But be careful they can look frumpy ( can be tricky to style you need something edgy ).

How to wear it? It’s your go to jacket right now and right into autumn : wear every day over a white tee or a white tank.
Over a blue button down shirt? Yes
Tuck in the collar. ( collars annoy me sometimes because they are messy!). Try a crop jacket with slouchy chinos,baggy jeans, tailored pants.
A crop jacket works with waist defining flirty midi skirts, shorts or a pencil skirt. It’s the perfect proportion. Try it !

Tip: the hem of the jacket doesn’t need to meet the top of your pants or skirt. It’s fine to show a little bit of a white tee/knit. A long knit in winter looks great under a crop jacket: it works! It’s just about getting your eye used to the different styling.

I’m having a short jacket moment! Feels fresh &

I’m having a short jacket moment!
Feels fresh & new after years of long blazers.
Don’t get me wrong I still love & adore long jackets & coats but a short crop jacket is what I keep reaching for every time .

If you’ve been following me for a while now you know I have a serious trench addiction ( tried trench rehab : did not work!)
Doesn’t matter if it’s long or short or cropped or raincoat: I’m obsessed with trenchcoats .
And I’m ok with that. It means I know my style.

Had my eye on this crop trench from @cosstores_au and I showed great discipline…ha..until it went on sale @theiconicau

It’s like a summery light jacket: it’s something you’d grab instead a cardigan on a summer’s night. ( a crop cardigan ? Not FiFi approved, shapeless & frumpy) .

This crop trench is only available in one size which I love : it’s dramatic and oversized so it fits every one. And because it’s cropped it’s perfect with a high waist skirt : I’ve tossed it back with my choc brown @matteau skirt I nabbed last year from @davidjonesstore .

What makes it modern is the new play on shapes & proportions : a longer straight skirt with a voluminous short jacket.

The skirt is fab because it works across seasons & I’ll wear it in winter with brown knee high boots & a knit ( oh & with a crop winter jacket or a long trench of course !)

Styling tips :
The white mules lighten the look , break up the neutrals.
The brown Valentino @netaporter belt elevates both the skirt & the low key cotton casual jacket.
My favorite bags right now are in brown or tan : you don’t need to match bags to the shoes : dirigible that old fashioned notion pronto.
Stick to three colours on the body : two colours is a bit matchy match and more than three ? Who has time to think that through ?? Ha !
