Obsessed with this coat ! Wear now & straight into winter. (on sale too).
Is it a coat ? Is it a trench ?!
The woven twill fabric has the look of a coat but the belted silhouette and epaulettes says TRENCH to me.
Who cares what it’s called: It’s a fabulous piece ( on sale!) at Netaporter and so right to wear now, straight into winter.
The point is that every time I choose/buy something new I am always thinking “can I wear it across the seasons? Can I wear it with my current wardrobe ? What can I wear it with?” So apart from bikinis and fur coats ( worn together haha) most things that you want to spend money on should pretty much work all year round from summer to winter.
The other thing to consider when buying anything is obviously cost per wear. All I know is that If I’m going to spend money it’s going to be on coats , blazers ( outerwear !) or a designer handbag. Why ? You get more bang for your buck.
And when you buy quality it can take the thrashing and the repeat wear. Outerwear and handbags both make a statement : they are what I call a ‘gutsy buy’. Something you can get your teeth into. They ADD a huge amount of style and edge to any outfit. Worth the money every time. ;
Which is why I pounced on this fabulous coat.
* The lightweight luxe twill fabric works across the seasons ( I.e it’s not a heavy duty wool winter coat).
* The chic versatile colours slides effortlessly into my current wardrobe of neutrals, browns and denim.
* The big shoulders and the length are so cool.
* Love the fact that I can wear it now with white jeans and a white tee ( hint: when in doubt default to all white under everything !) In winter I’ll style it say over a cream knit with brown jeans / leather pants and white shoes . See below.
