It’s always tricky right ?
You don’t want to be overdressed, but you don’t want to look too sloppy and casual either. (save that for being at home !)
My solution : A chic top with pants.
But here’s the thing ;
Not just any old top and pants : no ! no ! no!
These two key pieces need to be updated into new, modern shapes.
It’s the difference between looking cool and looking um, er, well, average .
The fashion edge is coming from the exciting new shapes and styling (because it sure ain’t coming from the muted colours!).
Which is why I pounced on this fabulous slouchy cream top and these cool pull on balloon pants. Both from lululemon ( can you believe it ?! ) and both cut for maximum chic and effortlessness. .
The boatneck top:
It‘s called the “Becalm’ top and you will be ! Yes, it’s boatneck but I’m wearing it off the shoulder. To me it’s much more flattering. You just reveal a peek of a shoulder but that’s all. I love the batwing sleeves and the loose, oversized shape. It’s quite long so I’ve given it a side half tuck rather than trying to tuck the whole thing in. Just push up the sleeves and you’ve got instant arm coverage but still summery !
The pleat front pants :
Such a great cut : flat front , with a few strategically placed pleats. They have a balloon shape with an elastic ankle. Talk about comfortable. So much more exciting than a boring pair of ye olde worlde plain pants right ?
The colour is called olive brown. One of those versatile colours that changes whatever you put it with ! Looks brown, could be khaki. Which means it works with cream , black and any neutrals. (Yes, my entire wardrobe).
Also loving this fabulous little lululemon black satin cami tank for smart casual as well . Wear it tucked in or just hanging out – the fabric is soo good as its skims but doesn’t cling . It will also work under a camel blazer.
Note : these pants are so clever you can wear on them weekends with a plain white tee and these fab white thongs!
Add heels and a chic bag and you’re done .
Remember the FiFi philosophy:, keep it simple, stick to classic versatile colours, let the shapes do the talking.
