What happens when you mix a blazer and a shirt with a jacket ? You get a shacket !

What’s great about this shacket is that it’s almost a peacoat : so you get the casualness of a shirt with the structure and the tailoring of a jacket .  Two great wardrobe basics melded into one chic, easy to wear piece.

Which is why I nabbed this fabulous grey shacket from Assembly label at David Jones.

It’s one of those totally versatile jackets that will work in chilly winter over a knit, but then straight into spring with a simple white tee. Great for casual weekends with sneakers but also sophisticated enough to wear in the city with slouchy pants and heels.

They’re a wardrobe essential precisely because you can wear them all year round: Perfect in winter styled back with the grey shacket, chic in spring with just a white tee. ( this fabulous white tee from Neuw at David Jones is the best, great neckline and sleeves cut to perfection).

Styling tips:
Make the outerwear the standout piece of the outfit like a grey shacket or coat.
When in doubt? Default to all white under everything.
Add white shoes to keep the white theme going.
Don’t be afraid to mix a slouchy Tee with slouchy pants : just pull out the tee so it’s a little loose at the waist.
You don’t need to do the buttons up all the way on the jacket sometimes it’s chic just to do a few up at the top.
In terms of bags with grey and white? I’d grab a black tote to add a third colour see below.
