Metallics! Sequins! Shine! With a dash of black & white & bronze #Partydressing
It’s Party time!
W00 hoo.
Whether it’s Christmas drinks or a New Year’s Eve celebration it’s time to get out of the activewear and practical dad sandals ( yes, I am talking to you!) into something glamorous, chic and festive.
OMG : What to wear?!
It’s easy:
You need black. You need white. You need brown.
Then mix it up with a sprinkle of metallics, gold, silver and sequins.
Glitter and paillettes were a huge trend on the runways ( see below).
Meaning?
The trend is here to stay: It’s time to go cray, cray and invest in anything sparkly and shiny. And it’s nice to know you’ll get more than one season of wear.
Remember you don’t necessarily always need a NEW dress, top or outfit ( don’t worry I have found some fab ones below) but if you need a new lewk invest instead in a few sensational standout accessories.
Accessories are not just for Christmas. (Like kittens and puppies lols). They are perfect for glamorous dressing all year round. Which means you’re not just buying something that’s a one off; Think of accessories an investment dressing with excellent cost per wear.
Styling tips:
- Stick to minimal classic colours – black, white , navy is always sophisticated – but update them into new modern shapes ( that means an LBD that is LONG, slouchy pants, tops with big sleeves and jumpsuits.)
- With black make sure it has texture shine or embellishments: velvet, sequins, leather.
- Mix up gold and silver : it’s the modern way to dress.
- But matching a gold bag with gold earrings and cuff ? Totally fine.
- If you don’t want to buy new shoes just pull out your white summer heels and add major earrings and a clutch bag. Done.
- With accessories it’s best to keep one single piece the centre of attention. Major earrings OR a major necklace. Never both. If you have too much going on it just confuses the eye and it actually waters down the effect.
Oh and you look a hot mess. (You might be feeling a mess but you don’t want to look it !) - You are not a Christmas tree.
- When in doubt put on wide white pants – instead of grabbing black pants – so much more modern.
- I have picked out lots of heels here but a chic metallic flat is totally modern with slouchy pants and halter top.
- Remember all you do is add sparkle earrings and a silver clutch and you have low key relaxed dressing.
- Keep it simple, look effortless and FEEL chic !
