Leather pants. Why you want them. How to wear them. At every price!

Fun fact: I’ve been talking about leather pants here on The FiFi Report since 2014.
It was actually waaay back in 2011 that I yelped with glee and shrieked with excitement when I first laid eyes on divine leather pants in the Celine show.
That’s the thing. You could wear everything now. Celine started that silhouette. And it’s still so right.
Fashion actually moves slowly. If you get in on the trend early you can get years of wear. (Don’t worry! I am here to tell you immediately about a new trend as soon as I sniff it out).

You need leather (or pleather) ( Faux leather) in your wardrobe.
The add texture and a cool fashion edge to your wardrobe (where boring black wool pants can be a snoozefest)
And they don’t need ironing ( the main reason I grab them every single day, ha)( I even wore on the plane to London).
They don’t have to be black though they are the most flattering and versatile.
Go for choc brown or khaki green.
Make sure they’re slouchy with room to move.
I actually prefer pleather because they are more trans seasonal. Not as hot as leather as probably more confortable and softer where leather can be more restrictive.

The way to wear leather pants ?
With a slouchy white tee or knit, a big blazer or a long oversized coat.
In spring with sneakers or birkenstocks, white loafers or boots.
It’s almost my uniform, ( nothing wrong with that , means you know your style)
One of my favorites ? From Zara. They are small ( I got 42)(go up a size) and these are fabulous too

Styling tips:

  • Keep leather baggy and slouchy, tight = tacky (except leggings).
  • Stick to one piece of leather, it can get too Las Vegas head to toe. Yikes
  • Toss on lots of volume on top when wearing tight leggings.
  • Don’t worry about different textures: it’s good to mix wool, silk, cotton with leather.
  • Stick to dark colours: white leather can look scary and cheap dot.com.lols
  • Add white/cream boots, mules,  sneakers to lighten it up.
  • Or with boots keep the colours the same as the pants so add black boots (or chunky dad sandals).
  • When in doubt add a long big oversized coat and you’re out the door!

Here’s a little trick: If you have leather leggins or coated jeans from a couple of seasons ago then keep wearing them. But make sure you wear them with a long slouchy sweater. Over the low waist. With combat boots.
You need something new and modern to joosh them up for another season.
