Stop looking: I’ve found the best layering knits ! #Stealmystyle
It’s the season ( and the weather!) for jackets.
Especially a peacoat.
(I am calling this gorgeous camel jacket a peacoat even though it has a belt).
It’s also the season for knits to wear under those jackets.
Good news : I have found the best sweater. Actually two (And both at the Iconic).
What to look for in a layering (as opposed to a statement) knit?
Obviously for a start make sure it’s not too oversized and bulky. It needs to sit comfortably under a coat or jacket.
I like a round neckline ( it’s neat under a jacket), a V neck is a bit bare, but a polo neck is good too.
You want sleeves that are roomy so the knit looks modern and relaxed.
So when you take off your jacket at dinner you look chic.
Colours?
Lighter tones always looks great under any jacket ( FiFi motto? default to white under everything !)
And I love this oatmeal neutral colour: it works with everything I own from choc brown to beige and black.
It’s a little shorter which I like. No need to tuck in which means less bulk and it looks relaxed ( you know how sometimes a half tuck can look too contrived) but it’s long enough to meet high waist pants .
Oh and there will be no flashing of your situation! Eeek.
The other knit I absolutely love and will live in is a little sturdier ( so it skims over the flabby bits)( I should know) and maybe more casual. Buy here.
Styling tricks:
- Keep the outerwear in a lighter colour . It creates the most impact. It’s on the outside !
- A black jacket is not your first choice but is still great .
- Layer the same tones under the jacket: a neutral knit under a camel jacket or grey under grey , black under black.
- Grab long slouchy pants in a cream or white. As your first choice. They work with sneakers or heels.
- Go for white shoes to lighten the lewk but you know that already ( It’s FiFi rule 101)
- Keep accessories like bags and sunglasses in the same tones but not neceesarily matching.
