Steal my style : why you need a peacoat and how to wear it !

Peacoat alert !
It’s the item du jour this winter. And into next, next winter.
A big trend on the winter runways (and on street style crowd ) at fashion month.
Meaning ?
It’s the beginning of the trend and it’s time to invest early. You’ll get seasons of wear.

Do you know what we call a peacoat ?
It’s typically a double breasted wool jacket.
(you can see the shape has a kind of nautical feel as it originally was a piece of clothing that sailors wore !)
It is quite often in navy ( no surprises there) but I love it in black.
Grey is chic. So is khaki & chic brown of course. It can be short and cropped. Or long over the bum. It really should be in wool. It should have plain buttons. And big lapels. And this season it’s updated into an oversized cut with serious shoulders. A tailored version is also totally chic but make sure it’s not too neat.

This fabulous peacoat here ?
I nabbed it from Arket last year but good news ! It’s now on sale. Woo hoo.
FYI I got size 38 and it’s really big and lined Could almost have bought a 36)
Everybody keep calm I have found lots similar from luxe to less below.

How to wear a peacoat?
With wide leg jeans, white pointy heels and a tan bag of course!
I’ve layered it over a white tee but come chilly weather it will look great over a knit with leather pants and sneakers.
And herein lies the reason we love a peacoat : it works from day to evening, work to weekend , desk to dinner and back again. It’s chic wherever you go.
Toss it over pretty lace dress or skirt and kitten heels going out for dinner but it’s also perfect with chunky boots stomping around in the countryside. And if you google  ‘French fashion editor’ you can bet they’ll be wearing a peacoat with jeans and ballet flats.
I rest my case !

Now get shopping; you can steal my style because I’ve found a few jeans and white shoes and tan bags too.
