Party dressing? Fabulous tops ( & everything else you need for smart casual chic !)

Smart casual party dressing can be as easy as guzzling down a glass of French champagne.

The secret?

Invest in tops, tops and more tops.
Tops that have a bit of vava voom.
Here’s the thing:
Stick to the FiFi philosophy of table top dressing ( focus is on the top of the body and non de la non pieces on the bottom. Under the table: Where no one is looking ).
This means all you need to think about – and invest in – is a fabulous top.
More versatile than a dress ( mix and match!) tops with pants/skirt/jeans automatically gives you a waist and shape definition. More flattering. This is good.
It makes dressing easy. You get mileage from your wardrobe.

But !
It’s so tricky to find great tops don’t you think?
Let me share my strict criteria on how I choose a fabulous statement top:
Needs to be in white, black, navy blues, silver or gold metallic.
If it’s black it needs to have texture, shine, embellishment or be in a major modern shape.  That means lace, velvet or sequins or big puff /bell sleeves.
Ignore bright colours ( hot pink never looks expensive, unless it is) and those pesky old lady prints. Aging. Never versatile.
Preferably needs to have sleeves to cover ‘muffin’ arms but a chic cutaway halter neck like this looks great. #fifiapproved.
When you keep all that in mind it narrows it right down !
Please don’t cry:
I’ve done the hard work for you and found sensational party tops ( above) luxe to less.
BTW: Can’t do metallic or sequins? Don’t worry I’ve found lots of simple alternatives.

Styling tips
Any of these tops love and adore jeans  ( maybe not ripped!) or slouchy stone chinos or chic black or white flares. It’s the solution to smart casual dressing.
Add major accessories : earring, heels, a clutch /evening bag in a colour or metallic.
All black in summer is chic when you show some skin ( the third colour and keeps it fresh!)
White next to the face takes ten years off . Yes, please.
Update black and white into new strong modern shapes (Stops you looking like a waitress!)
