Black & white: the fabulous key pieces to update now!

Breaking news:
Black and white is here again.
Of course it never went away but the idea of only wearing those colours is – how shall I say it? – happening!
It’s great for those who feel they can’t wear neutrals.
And it makes a nice change from beiges when you want joosh up your minimal style ( but not resort to bright colours. lols)

Plus the most important thing?
Head to toe black actually looks BEST in summer !
Why?
Because when you flash some skin it freshens it all up. Think of your skin , bare legs and bare arms ( yes you can do it !) as another colour. I wear head to toe black all the time in summer. It’s so easy. All black in winter? Too hard.

The trick to wearing black and white?
Update those shapes !
I know what you are thinking: Step away from the dark recesses of your old wardrobe:  you are NOT going to pull out all those black dated shapes and think they will work! NO NO NO.

Because with any black and white it’s CRUCIAL to update into modern shapes.
That’s the way to bring drama, a fashion edge so you look chill. Chic. Modern.
That would be?
Long maxi dresses ( I bought this one from Arket).  Slouchy black high waist pants ( Love mine from Oroton) . Wide Shoulder tee (from Country Road)  A white blouse with puff sleeves ( this one !) or slouchy black Leather pants.

Please don’t buy a black blazer.
Why? It’s too boring. You want your outerwear and jackets to make a vava voom statement. That’s what you are paying it for ! A black blazer will only bring everything down. It’s so limiting. You can only wear with jeans or chinos.  With black pants? Snoozefest. ( Please don’t cry: Store your black blazer: wear it with a tee and jeans: Not wrong.Just don’t go out and buy one. You are wasting your $)

Rules for buying black.
You want texture, shine, embellishment or major shapes.
Something to make it interesting !
Like leather, sequins, lace or embroidery, a shoulder pad top or a major dress with puff sleeves.

Styling tricks:
Use accessories to add the joosh.
Black and white logo bags,  white shoes, designer handbags, major sunglasses.
Add a straw bag or toss on some camel sandals.
Love black chunky sandals ( these on sale !)
Rule of thumb: wear white next to your face and stick to black on the bottom.
A black dress or tank works though because you have skin to lighten it up.
Head to toe white is fabulous.
