• Think about what you need in your wardrobe before you leave the house. Work out where the gaps are and what is missing in your wardrobe. Then make a list. Then stick to it.

• Think about your style and what works for you. If florals are not your thing ( hint: they are not) and never suit you they will not suddenly look fabulous just because they are half price.

• Don’t ever buy anything because it’s cheap. ( Who would ever do that?! Um, er…) .

• Always and I SAY ALWAYS try everything with shoes. They change everything and you are not going out in barefeet !

• Shop early. Throw down a strong latte and hit the stores before the crowds get pushy.

• Wear decent underwear. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, more embarrassing than being seen in bad, sad, saggy, underwear.

• Remember cheap clothes + cheap colours = Cheap. And who wants to look cheap?
(hint: Cheap colours are hot pink, fluro yellow and lime green. Ewwww).

• When something is cheap go for expensive looking colours such as chocolate brown, black, navy and caramel.

• Think trans-seasonal. Can you wear it in summer and winter? Choose fabrics that can go the distance: light weight wool, cotton, chiffon and silk.  It’s all about layering and you will get more mileage out of your wardrobe if you can wear pieces from season to season.

• When trying on clothes always check out the view from behind. Throw a mirror in your handbag. You need to know if you have a bulging muffin back and a visible panty line.

• Remember friends don’t always tell the truth. Take someone you trust for honest opinion. Like FiFi !

• Try not to be whipped into a frenzy. Think about it (see above) and stop at impulse buying. Buyer’s remorse is not a good thing. The wrinkles and the Botox will cost more in the long run.

• Stick to a rule. Don’t um and ahh if it’s under $30. If you love it, then buy it, wear it, thrash it and say goodbye.

• Remember when you buy 10 things at $30 that adds up to $300. Which is a single Prada shoe…..
