Both Louis Vuitton and Celine – the Gods of fashion – have been doing this for seasons.
In fact Celine first showed it way back in 2011 but Phoebe Philo has continued to sneak in a white poloneck virtually every season since then.
And if you check out the street style pics below you see it actually looks cool under a vest, blazer or sweater.

Plus you can keep warm without looking too bulky.
