As I was saying …
Choose new season pieces that slide easily into your current wardrobe to get maximum cost per wear!

So I’ve taken the @lululemonausnz choc brown cargo pants and the expresso flare leggins from my previous post and styled them this time with some of my favorite pieces. Yes, pieces that I already own and which I wear on repeat.

Take one guess what that might be…😂
An oversized camel blazer @thefrankieshop
And a crop trench @acnestudios … of course !
Toss on white shoes and it’s a done deal.

Styling tips:
* Think tonal dressing rather exactly matching colours.
* So browns & caramels with white are all living their best life when they’re together.
* Roll up the hem of the cargo pants so it’s a bit more sporty luxe .
* Shoes changeth the outfit. the white Net mesh flats @jomercershoes work with the crop pants because you see a bit of ankle. There’s skin/space to create drama.
* The white loafers love going out with a crop trench.
* Why not wear flare leggings with an oversized blazer & pointy heels ?
* It’s the way to do it if you’re hesitant of wearing baggy & oversized. By the way it’s same camel blazer with both pants.
* a white round neck tee is pivotal in your wardrobe. It lightens up the look, work back with the shoes. Adds a third colour.
* Choose accessories like bags, belts & sunglasses in the same tones & colours. Looks chic and makes dressing so easy. What’s not to love about that ?!

Time to start planning the next season don’t you think?
It’s fun. But it’s also smart.
Because you can work out the gaps, think about what you need & buy accordingly.

I knew when I spied so many fabulous new pieces arriving in store @lululemonausnz I had to think long and hard and plan my purchases.

So obviously it’s no surprise I’ve chosen my favorite colour: brown and why not ?
It’s chic but it also makes sense. Because I’m conscious about building a wardrobe and these choc brown pieces seamlessly slot straight in with the rest of my current closet.

My picks ?
The fabulous crop wunder puff jacket with the brown flare ( expresso!) pants . And the choc brown cargo pants. I’m obsessed! Swipe 👉

What’s to love? (apart the colours).
The wunder puff might be short but it meets all your high waist pants at the waist so it sneakily creates shape. ( some puffas can completely overwhelm you !) With a detachable hood ( yes please), cinchable hem & nifty pockets you’ll also be warm as toast.

And can we talk about the groove flared pants ? ( that’s their name: and you will be 😜) Best colour AND the best cut. High waist and then flare OUT.

Love the pants with the wunder puff jacket and white @lululemonausnz slides/ sneakers. And come winter I’ll also wear these groove flare pants with an oversized camel blazer & pointy kitten heels.

Do you remember the cream cargo pants from @lululemonausnz I have from summer ?
They’re now in this deep brown expresso and I LOVE them. With a sneaky elastic back and a flat front , they’re chicer than black, as versatile as jeans but just as casual.

The styling trick ? I’ve rolled up the hem.
Suddenly they work both with heels AND with fabulous white sneakers (yes @lululemonausnz now do shoes !)(outrageously comfortable) Swipez vous 👉👉

Peacoat alert ! It’s the item du jour this winte

Peacoat alert !
It’s the item du jour this winter. And into next.
A big trend on all the autumn/winter runways (& on street style crowd ) at fashion month.
Meaning ?
It’s the beginning of the trend & it’s time to invest early. You’ll get seasons of wear.

Do you know what we call a peacoat ?
It’s typically a double breasted wool jacket.
(you can see the shape has a kind of nautical feel as it originally was a piece of clothing that sailors wore !)
It is quite often in navy ( no surprises there) but I love it in black. Grey is chic. So is khaki & chic brown of course. It can be short & cropped. Or long over the bum. It really should be in wool.
It should have plain buttons. And big lapels.
And this season it’s updated into an oversized cut with serious shoulders. A tailored version is also totally chic but make sure it’s not too neat.

This fabulous peacoat here ?
I nabbed it from @arketofficial last year but good news ! It’s now on sale. Woo hoo. I’ll link in stories!
FYI I got size 38 and it’s big. (Could almost have bought a 36)

How to wear a peacoat?
With wide leg jeans, white pointy heels and a tan bag of course! I’ve layered it over a white tee but come chilly weather it will look great over a knit with leather pants and sneakers.

And herein lies the reason we love a peacoat : it works from day to evening, work to weekend , desk to dinner and back again.
It’s chic wherever you go:
Toss it over pretty lace & kitten heels going out for dinner but it’s also perfect with chunky boots stomping around in the countryside. And if you google ‘French fashion editor’ you can bet they’ll be wearing a peacoat with jeans & ballet flats.
I rest my case !

It’s your capsule travel wardrobe!
Jetting off on a European summer holiday?
You need to plan your travel wardrobe.
The trick ?
Colours that go together = versatile.
Colours that love each ( not like your family after 24 hours flight haha).
Colors that looks expensive but don’t have to be.
That means what I call “expensive” colors like Black, white, neutrals, brown, grey and metallics. A soupçon of blue and lots of denim.

The aim: A chic, effortless versatile wardrobe with multiple different outfits.
Don’t worry it’s easy.
There will be no breathing into a paper bag in the Hotel George V as everyone waits for you to get dressed.
Why?
Because you will take photos before you leave of all your outfits so you can cleverly refer to your secret look book on your phone before you head out .
That means you can nonchalantly throw on your outfit in 5 minutes flat.
And everyone is happy.

My best advice: only pack things you LOVE wearing. Never pack pieces you think you might wear.
Because you won’t.

Is it cold enough for a camel cape & pleather pants ?
I hope so !
You’re probably sick of your summer wardrobe like me.
I’m loving getting back into my favorite winter pieces.

This is what I have lived in over the last few winters & will pull and wear again this season :

A camel cape or coat ✔️
Go for oversized, slouchy & long as you can.
Fashion tip: keep the outerwear in a lighter colour for maximum impact . I’m wearing @toteme

Pleather pants ✔️
Go for a baggy cut. In black, brown & khaki.
Fashion tip: black needs texture, shine, embellishment or in a major fashion shape to make it interesting. That’s why black slouchy pleather pants work !
I’m wearing @sabastyle

A cream knit✔️
Make sure it’s slouchy. Though not too long so you can tuck it in. A roll neck or crew neck are both right .
Fashion tip: keep the lighter colours on top because white next to your face is good & can take years off ( I should know !) I’m wearing @rohestudios

Cream white flats ✔️
White /cream shoes (it’s just about all I wear).
Flats look modern. Take your pick of pointy, round or square toe. Mary Janes are everywhere this season but plain ballet flats or flat slingbacks are great as well.
Fashion tip: white shoes lighten the look. Add a fashion edge. A third colour to break up the black & white.

FiFi Philosophies:
* Think 3 colours on the body. Such as camel, black & cream. Why ? Two is too matchy match and more than three? Takes too long, is tricky to pull off . Who has the time to style all that up in the morning?
* Think table top dressing . Keep the focus on top of the body above the table where everyone is looking (white knit) and then plain pieces under the table ( black pants)
* Always update the classics : they are sometimes the first things to date. Right now it’s all about a slouchy look. Makes dressing easy & effortless.

I love getting into winter clothes !
(Not sure about all the rain though 😳)
Perfect weather to pull out my new camel crop jacket that I nabbed months ago from @cosstores_au
(good news : it’s still available instore).
Easy to wear: think of it as a cardigan but chicer & with more structure. (Get used to seeing this jacket ALOT)

I’ve styled it with fav pleather slouchy brown pants from last season @zara and a white tee.
I’m having a flat shoe moment (how could you not love that trend ?) and I’m obsessed with these white loafers @cosstores_au. (get used to seeing these ALOT ).
Also absolutely loving my new choc brown suede hobo slouch bag from @arketofficial too. (Get used to seeing a lot of that too 😂!)

Styling tips:
* The shorter jacket is a little more casual than a big statement blazer or coat. Trans-seasonal: it’s more autumny than wintery and it slips easily over a casual white tee.

* A crop jacket loves high waist pants as they get together and meet in the middle. The proportions work.

* Wear a shoulder pad tee under everything- it does wonders ! Plus white next to your face is always a good idea.

* Think 3 colours on the body or tone on tone styling . Two colours is too matchy match and more than three ? Way too hard ( who has the time ?!)

* Don’t be afraid to wear slouchy with slouchy : it’s cool and who cares if it’s not “ flattering “ - use the short jacket to create a waist & shape .

* White loafers add edge, lighten the look and anchor the slouchy silhouette.

* Keep the colours classics and update to new modern shapes : it’s the FiFi philosophy & the secret to easy effortless dressing !

It’s getting chilly. I like it. It means we can pull out our winter clothes. Yippee ! But how to be chic on casual winter weekends ?
Or when you’re living your best every day life? I’ve got one word to say to you:
Jackets !  It’s the secret to easy effortless dressing.
 Watch as they instantly joosh up everything in your current wardrobe. (Want to keep wearing everything from last year? Invest in chunky boots too). And these jackets are cool !
Not blazers but just as chic there are so many different styles to choose from:
From peacoats, to a crop trench, a shacket, barn jackets to utility jackets and a quilted puffa these key pieces are designed to give you maximum impact.

It’s a fabulous pleat camel skirt I nabbed on sale @cosstores_au
What’s to love ?
For a start it’s camel 😂
And secondly it’s pleated.
Most importantly it’s trans-seasonal .
Which means come winter I’ll be wearing it with a slouchy sweater & knee high boots.

Right now ?
I’ve thrown it back with my favorite white tee @thefrankieshop (of course) & white loafers also from @cosstores_au .
I love a trench 👉swipe so I’ve also tossed the skirt with an old favorite brown @uniqloau trench from my own wardrobe.

Styling tips:
* Love the contrast of a pretty skirt with more masculine chunky loafers.
* White loafers lighten the look.
* Go up a size or two bigger in a pleat skirt so it’s a bit loose and sits lower - that’s way more comfortable and flattering.
* Break up the white & camel by adding a third colour with a fabulous choc brown suede slouchy bag from @arketofficial . The perfect size for every day you can throw everything in it. Love that ! Plus it looks chic worn cross body or just hanging from your shoulder.
* You want the trench the same length as the skirt.
* These cool brown sunglasses from @theiconicau fit right in with all the neutrals : it makes getting dressed so much easier when it all just …works!

A white sleeveless shirt.
Wide slouchy jeans.
White Birkenstocks.
A straw basket.
Doesn’t get any easier than that.

The thing to remember: when you update classics into new modern shapes (like jeans & a white shirt) it makes getting dressed easy.
Why?
Because these updated pieces don’t need any jooshing. They don’t need help. They don’t need accessorizing. They don’t need fixing to look cool. They are chic as is. They instantly look good. The new shapes & modern cut do all the hard work for you.
You just put them on. Tuck in your shirt, pull on slides.

Sneakers. You know you need them.
You know you want them. So many out there , it can get confusing. Never Fear FiFi is here ! Here’s the thing: You’ve probably been wearing plain white sneakers for a while now. They are still right. But it’s time to update to a new colour or style don’t you think? It’s the quickest way to joosh up your wardrobe.
(Like these choc brown suede sneakers with white jeans & a sweater.) The point about this season’s sneakers ? They are not to wear when exercising. Mais non ! It’s when you’re out and about: when you want to look casual and chic. When you want to be comfortable. But look like you have made an effort !

How to wear them ?

Sneakers love and adore LONG coats. Match made in heaven. Throw on a knit, pleather pants and a long, long trench plus sneakers = cool chic. Sneakers also love big slouchy sweaters, a puffa jacket and leather leggins. You’ll see that a chunky sneaker then adds the balance and proportion to the volume on top.

Styling tricks:  * Rule of thumb: With wide leg jean/chinos/ pants make sure they are long AND worn over the sneakers. * Keep straight jeans shorter. Roll them up if you like. A big wide cuff is also cool. You want to see the ankle. And the sneakers. * Try to match the colours of your outfit back to a colour in the sneaker. Though if you go for choc brown, red, blue or green then a plain neutral outfit works too.
If you crave some colour then sneakers are the way to do it ! Keep the clothes monotone and then add the coloured sneakers as the main focus. * Sneakers and a skirt? Works in summer but in winter: Mmmm not so sure. It’s about the tricky bare leg situation. You could try the new colored hosiery trend but I think that works with heels only. Sneakers are probably best with pants when it’s cold.
