Happy New year !

The FiFi Report is baaacck.

And this week we are shopping the sales.
A few tips:
Think before you buy. Think about next season. Think about the coming trends. Think about your credit limit. Gulp.
Think about investing in pieces that will last the distance. Great quality for the price.
Think about what’s missing from your wardrobe.
Then hunt it down.
Don’t ever buy anything because it’s cheap. ( Who would ever do that?! Um, er…) .
Buy because you love it.
What pieces will take you through to next season?  You want longer skirts, crop jackets, volume in every shape, skirts with details and pants with slouch. You still want white shoes and seriously sexy mama shoes. You want leather. You want grey, grey, grey with navy, black and white. Oh and a touch of blue. ahhh…some things never change ….
Need proof? Check out my fav pics from the Prefall 14 collections showing right now in Vogue for next, next winter…

Now is the time to swoop on the Burberry website. Drool.com. This sale is totes fabulous. Go for something substantial: a classic trench or a jacket. A crop jacket. A biker jacket. Note the big sleeves. It’s a HUGE trend. I love the taupe but it also comes in black. Buy one in each colour. Wear summer,  autumn, winter, spring. Shut up: it’s half price now $897. Burberry.com. It’s the season of the skirt. Goodbye to all those short tight dresses. This is a good thing. (Think about that Plum pudding). You always need a black skirt but it doesn’t have to be boring. Mais non. You’ve had enough snoozing on the beach. No need to snooze over your closet. The 50’s skirt is a trend and if you check out the back of this cool A line Preen skirt you can see it has chic pleat details. Was $1,328 Now $398 from Net a porter. Wear right now with a simple grey tee, bare legs and those snazzy white sandals from Wittner . Now just $69 from heelsteal. Perfect heel size for walking the sales for hours. Pain free. Drug free.

Peg leg, front pleat pants. I’ve been banging on about them for seasons since they first appeared on the fashion horizon. They are still here. You need them a little slouchy. You do.  In black or navy. Or both. Indispensable. Trans-seasonal.  This is a wardrobe basic so spend more on quality so they can take the pounding. These divine 3.1 Phillip Lim drape trousers $375 from shopbop can take a good thrashing. Add something snazz- a- licious on top. Like a cool Bassike blue tee now $120. Note the volume. Big is back. Love those sleeves. Your arms look skinnier with that wide gap. True story. Love the texture. Love the colour. Add a pointy toe snakeskin heel for added va va voom. It’s all about love and action on the foot. ( They’ve had enough dozing on the beach and now it’s time to put those toes back to work). $99 from Witchery.
